  1. Could someone confirm F264 please?
  2. Forget that, I found it.
  3. Super coin. What's the obverse like please Richard?
  4. Was it described as the large rose?
  5. That's a good 'un Pete, nice find.
  6. Have they tried to correct that H? It looks very weak.
  7. Someone's getting a kicking somewhere... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-1911C-CALCUTTA-British-India-King-George-V-PIG-One-Rupee-Silver-Coin-/124386809289?hash=item1cf60815c9%3Ag%3AZjgAAOSwtjtfa2z-&nma=true&si=V6eenPJPFgWwXezgiSCzzy8pf%2B0%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-1911C-CALCUTTA-British-India-King-George-V-PIG-One-Rupee-Silver-Coin-/124491962816?hash=item1cfc4c99c0%3Ag%3Ag1wAAOSwg2Rfa21z&nma=true&si=V6eenPJPFgWwXezgiSCzzy8pf%2B0%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  8. I despise all of them. Self-serving expense-fiddling lying b******s, the lot. “The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.” ~ Billy Connolly.
  9. Did you see what he called you @copper123 ?
  10. This. How fast was that? Of course now I would like a step by step breakdown of the process. I would have ruined it.
  11. I've spent so little cash in the shops this / last year I can barely remember the last time I got change of any description.
  12. I'd take him to small claims court. You sold him a coin, and refunded him. He now has a coin which he has not paid for. What goes on between Richard and the RM is none of the buyer's business, is it? I'd send a letter before action telling him that if he doesn't either make payment or return the coin you'll proceed against him. I doubt you'd need to go much further.
  13. Never stopped you before...
  14. Agree same coin Mike.
  15. I'm not convinced. It's a pretty poor survival strategy, to bury random nut-sized objects for the lean times: Squirrel: "I'm starving, think I'll pop and get those things I buried last autumn." "Bollocks, another sestertius. Could have sworn it was a hazelnut." I think a squirrel would know the difference between a piece of metal and food.
  16. If they were shiny they might have been taken by a magpie. If they have sunk then taking a scoop of soil from where they were should unearth them?
  17. I think it's remarkable that coins struck so closely to each other have been preserved in such similar condition.
  18. I'm going for different coins. It took a while of fairly hardcore spot-the-difference but I think there's a wee dent on yours I don't see on the Heritage coin, maybe two, but the top one was what swayed me. Remarkably similar though.
  19. The 48th shilling isn't too hard to obtain in decent grade - I think he's looking for about twice what it's worth. I paid £17 for this one:
  20. I've not heard of these fantasies. Can you point me in the direction of any information on them please?
  21. That triskelion is from the Onchan POW tokens:
  22. I've been waiting for someone to reply with a good idea but it seems that we're all a bit unsure Ian. I take the view that intervention becomes necessary when it would worsen if left untouched. I really dislike verdigris and if this was a £10 coin then I'd have no qualms about getting the reverse in some diluted lemon juice - I'd put a cocktail stick under the good side and just try to dunk the polluted half. It would strip the patina but once done I'd cart it about in my pocket for 6 months or so until it improved in appearance. It'd never look great but it wouldn't matter much. But it's not a £10 coin so I'd be really concerned my clumsy efforts would make a poor situation worse. I don't think Verdicare would touch it. In my experience olive oil takes forever to do nothing. Perhaps it would be worth contacting one of the TPGs that offers "conservation" services and see what they think they could do with it? I'd be interested to see how you get on. I would struggle to leave it.
