I also have a set. Not much to write home about because it was mostly collected when I first started - they were cheap and easy to obtain and I wasn't as concerned about grade then. I've upgraded a few recently though.
I read Three Men in a Boat a month or two ago. They made it seem like hard work.
How long ago did you lose the sovereigns? Is there a dredging opportunity for those who don't have any? And did you tell the wife what you'd done?
Sorry, I did get it identified in the end. It's a Philip II of Naples tornese, 1599. Now residing with the person who identified it for me - bit out of my collecting sphere, that one.

Not sure about the boats but you'll do for me. Welcome.
Not really thanks Pete. Not my thing so only want them if silly cheap; I'd probably end up reselling them at some point. That's why I haggled (I've never quibbled over the price of your pennies ).
Someone else will be pleased to have them I'm sure.
Well, if you sell them to two different people you've got about £4 in postage so you get £16. You've got a parcel to send me anyway so didn't think it was that unreasonable. A bit unreasonable, yes, but not a lot.
