  1. Yeah, just grumblin'.
  2. I'm newer than 'im!
  3. Think he was hoping for the blind or mentally impaired. Or the blind and mentally impaired.
  4. Oh, I didn't notice the postage. That's me out then.
  5. A nice penny for Pete. Cheap too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-coin-Georgius-V-1911-One-penny-Year-of-the-coronation-/161973674727?hash=item25b66222e7:g:~dEAAOSwIwhWRxlq
  6. It's the rarer large 3 variety too!
  7. Nah, I'm just a lousy photographer. I'll try again tomorrow in natural light. I'm as sure as I can be that they've not been cleaned.
  8. Done. It wasn't stuck or anything.
  9. I'm finding it quite difficult to get a decent photo. They're too shiny.
  10. No, no. Nothing to see here!
  11. It's been getting on my nerves for years, honestly. I'm not even entirely sure it's better than looking at a gap.
  12. I paid: 1911 (£18), 1915 (£15), 1920 (£17), 1929 (£7) and 1935 (£6). £4 postage. I was surprised that there weren't more bidders - I didn't have to fight very hard for them at all. The 1915, 1929, 1935 all went for the opening price. The 1911 had one other bid, and the 1920 had 5 apart from mine. This is probably the best result I've ever had from ebay. They all appear to be completely uncirculated with almost full mint lustre. I don't think they've been cleaned - just good honest coins.
  13. This is what I received in the post this morning:
  14. I've been looking for a better 1915 halfpenny for a while now, as my current one leaves a little to be desired: But they're not easy to come by in good grades. The weekend before last I found one, although the photo wasn't great. The seller had a few more, so I bought a few to save on postage.
  15. I think I've the same views as you InforaPenny. I want to see those two letters, the I and the P. I can (just) on my 1903, but not on the 1904 (which is ok, as it's a nice enough coin in hand). As for the 1905, when I eventually get one it'll probably be a flat disc with a date on.
  16. Funnily enough I've just upgraded mine too - they are hard to find. It's not quite as good as yours, and it has an odd matt finish that makes me think it might have been dipped (can anyone tell from these pics?) It was only a tenner, delivered, so I don't think I've done too badly.
  17. I was just kidding mate; I think I've been spoiled by Colin's extensive work on farthings.
  18. Firstly Rob, can you direct me to your website where you've listed and photographed virtually every variety of halfpenny?
  19. You've been volunteered! One volunteer is worth 10 pressed men. You'll be pleased to know I've got far fewer halfpennies than farthings.
  20. Colin, you'll be glad to know I've gone through up to 1956, and the only thing I've found that might be noteworthy is some extra metal on the base of the neck on my 1941. Have a look and see what you make of it - seen anything like it before? So you're off the hook now, you'll be glad to know. Who's the resident halfpenny expert I need to pester now then?
  21. Just this one I think. Although if you say you know me, she'll add a bit on for you.
  22. I haven't been to a coin fair in years so my stoop needs a little work. Shouldn't take long though. Did someone mention there's a fair in York? My sister's got a B&B there so I've somewhere to crash...
  23. Would be good to put a face to the name. Bring your spare small date 1875 farthings.
  24. Ah, the coin fair's only up t'road. I can go almost anytime.
