  1. Seller reckoned EF but nearer VF for me. Interesting what you say about the die fill, as most of the others I've looked at since don't seem to have the bar either, but I haven't got those in hand and under magnification.
  2. Which is why it's not worth me putting it on ebay. No better than fine, either so must be worth a good 5p.
  3. 10 ore. Most of it is 60s-70s plus a couple earlier and a couple later.
  4. Nothing terribly special I don't suppose - bit of a mix from 1 ore to one krone 1929-1988.
  5. Oh, I could. Just didn't think the time and effort was worth it. I'd rather have the coins than the aggravation. Was fun sorting out the arabic ones though, and I learnt a bit lot. I've even got a few of those swedes you like.
  6. I've got a similar issue. Bags full of world coins, not what I collect. I started looking them up and comparing to those listed on ebay, and found it just wasn't worth it for 99p at a time and all the hassle with posting etc. So I thought I might as well keep them - bought an album from Chris (I need another two or three) and started filling it. I've decided I now collect everything.
  7. Greetings all. I was picking up a few small purchases from ebay the other day, when I noticed one of the seller's other items was an 1853 copper farthing. Bit early for me, but since I'm broadening my horizons I thought I'd have a second glance. In CCGB there is a variety listed with inverted Vs for As in BRITANNIAR, £150 in VF. This is what it appeared to be, so I took a punt and it arrived this morning. I can't see any evidence of a bar to the As. So, have I got what I think?
  8. Anything worth having is worth haggling over, in my opinion. The worst that can happen is they say no.
  9. Greetings Weaver. If I had 10k to invest I'd probably buy gold - sovereigns etc. Can't see them ever losing much value (not that I know about such things). If I had 10k to spend on coins I'd have a full set of wreath crowns which I'd probably buy at auction as there are lots of fakes out there and I don't trust ebay. I use it, but I don't trust it. Why? Because I like them. With luck I might have enough change left over for a 1905 half crown.
  10. Something strikes me as off with this set... I know what it is... They're all the same size. That crown's a lovely piece.
  11. Yes please Pete if you've got a minute.
  12. I think the short answer is yes. That's staggering for something that (a) doesn't look close to the real thing and (b) is described as a possible (i.e. obvious) replica. I'd vote for the dedicated fakes thread too. I have absolutely no doubt that many would fool me. Not this one though.
  13. I'd have had it if you hadn't posted it the same day as the Midland Fair. I've already spent what I didn't have.
  14. Did you get my mail Pete?
  15. Starting to think Pete's minting these in his shed.
  16. Anyway, I'll probably be there shortly before lunchtime. So if you see a bloke with a great big spider on his T-shirt, that's me. Say hello.
  17. Yeah, not always easy to tell from a photo. It's still better than the one I had. Another one'll turn up sometime.
  18. I didn't think it was me. That's a very expensive low grade farthing then.
  19. Someone tell me I'm not going daft. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Obverse-TOOTHED-BORDER-Reverse-BEADED-BORDER-1860-Farthing-UK-GREAT-BRITAIN-/221987230401?hash=item33af7852c1:g:O68AAOSwrklVDj6D That's not a mule, is it?
  20. Two good buys there I reckon. I've just paid £2.60 (including postage) for a 1929 farthing and now I feel a bit robbed. I think yours is a better strike than mine too.
  21. I've never seen one before. Have you?
  22. Copied from a worn one so they had to guess the missing letters?
  23. Your was is my is.
