  1. slab a coin as the edward III leopard or double florin should be a crime .... one of the most historical coins of the european medieval coinage ....
  2. an example : the first is a replica of a medieval coin struck in Milan , is was produced and distributed by an insurance company to all his clients , while the second is a genuine coin ... as you can see they looks very similar ...
  3. I don't think it was produced to be sell as genuine .... too different ... moreover I think these copies were probably given as gadgets with some commercial products .... for example here in Italy a lot similar copies were given with chocolate , biscuits , newspapers etc during the 70/80's
  4. Hi and welcome depends on coins you have , some types have a higher value if certificated while others not…. can you post some images ?
  5. weight is ok ? It's the first things that you have to see ..
  6. Do you mean this http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces16742.html ?
  7. Yes , it's a Venetian coin called Soldino. I can't understand clearly under which doge was struck , maybe Michele Steno. You can find an interesting explanation about the circulation of venetian soldini in England on Richard Kelleher's book " A history of medieval coinage in England" at page 154.
  8. This is not my field ..... my first impression is not good , I don't like l it ..
  9. Hi all I've just discovered that for the 90th birthday of the queen the Royal Mint has struck a new sovereign ... I really like it and as gold coins collector I'd really like to buy one .. Do you know where I could find one at a cheaper price ? Thanks to all Matteo
  10. My last acquisition , Moncastro , tartar asper countermarked
  11. Elizabeth II , the sovereign of my year of birth , 1995 .
  12. this is the first marengo ( from wikipedia ) . It was struck after the battle of marengo. The 20 lire were struck in Italy also before 1861 in the kingdom of Sardinia as they were struck in all the states that were part of the Latin monetaru union.
  13. Yes indeed ... I looked for one of them in high conservation and good price for a couple of years for my collection of marenghi ( how do you say in English ?) ...Now finally I find it ..
  14. Yes, I agree ... The field of the countermark should be more or less , toned as the portrait ..
  15. France , Louis XVIII , 20 Francs 1815 , struck in London during the famous 100 days . unfortunatly I can't take better picture ..
  16. Remember also that ebay seller ( included professional ) have to pay a commission so usually their prices are a little bit higher.
  17. yes I Know , I saw the last aution but it wasn't my field .. I am saving money for the next auction that includes my preferite period of english coins ( Edward I and II ) . Auctions catalogues can be very usefull in certain cases but I have to say that are also quite expensive !! 25£ for a catalogue ! I mean in Italy the majority of numismatic house auctions send to you their catalogues for free ....
  18. Thanks azda for your reccomandation !! I know quite well that book because I bought it last year , Yes it's very easy to use , photos could be better but , considering the price it is very good . Personally my preferite book about english medieval coins is "English coins " by Lord Stewartby, I think it is more detailed and updated than others. Thanks ! yes it could be a hoard coin , there are no signs of circulation .
  19. a question from an italian student of economics : What do you think will happen to your national currency in case of leaving EU ? The last weeks one of my professor ( he is English ) told us that he thinks that probably at the end uk will remain in
  20. Thanks for your post.. Honestly I don't know ! What are the differences between 690.1 and 690.2 ?

  24. I didn't understand your first message . I mean when I read it the first thing that I thought was : it happens and surely will happen also in future , this is one of the problems of a platform like ebay ; and well me too I would like to buy some coins but are too expensive for my wallet and so I have to go to others coins . P.S Rebember that there are also some softwares that makes the offer for you at the last second . Regards Matteo
