  2. photos are not your best it is a 5 lire as you know , the date is on the left of the eagle and it looks 1927 ( can you confirm ? ) so a common coins . here a link where you can find all information about this coin http://numismatica-italiana.lamoneta.it/moneta/W-VE3/32
  3. Happy birthday ! Buon Compleanno !!
  4. Indeed. Beautiful coins. Yes , beautiful coins . I've never seen agnus dei on coins of this period ... Usually is on coins struck during the 14-15th centuries .
  5. iPost the other face .... Try to cut the images, we don't need your hand ! Regards, Matteo
  6. Great news !!! Is Agnus Dei in the second photo ?
  7. I see the same face of coin in both photos
  8. This is a guide made by a professional coins photographer who works also for well known auctions using low costs materials ... It's in italian but mybe using google translate you can understand a good part . The link : http://numismaticamente.it/collezionismo-numismatico/guida-fotografia-numismatica
  9. Yes , you are right . I remember the auction , there were some of this coins in very low conservation .... some were interesting but prices were quite high.
  10. The conservation is not perfect but for this type it is quite good
  11. Arrived this morning from last Gorny Morsh auction ... Mytilene or Metelin Francesco II Gattilusio ( sold as Francesco I but new studies have attributed this coin to Francesco II )
  12. yes , a photo of the coin slabbed could be the proof that the coin is original
  13. I honestly hate slabbed coins so , I think it is an other element for remove the box. :) Seriously I don't see any other alternatives ... If you needed the proof that it's not a fake now you have it .. Take a picture of the coin slabbed to cofirm that is the same coin before remove the slab.
  14. I've controlled on Spink ' s Coins of England and I have to say that the portrait is very similar to Aethelred's ( especially in type 1151 ) , but others elements are different .. Your coin has a easier style , the cross is very simple and legends are shorter than normal coins .. in my little , I think that the idea of an imitation could be right ... It is a very interesting coin
  15. V.E. III's coins are the most falsificate in Italy because there are a lot of collectors and in genaral have high prices .. However It's strange because this coin is rare but not too muchu
  16. It could be but I don't know ... this coin comes from France maybe it has been found by a detectorist and than cleaned , the price was quite good so I decided to buy it ..... many collectors of this mint have seen it and for every it is good ... it need just to be toned but for this there is no problem
  17. Hi Crown Jules Open a new a topic , I will try to help you ... I know some interesting websites but first I have to see the coins Regards Matteo
  18. Here in Italy we pay from Us a tax IVA ( VAT for you ) but some auction describes lots in a particular way ( for example material to study ) and for that we don't pay it .... However you should see all details on the invoices .
  19. It's silver ... Maybe it's the photo not perfect and maybe it's because the precedent owner cleaned it too much
  20. Genova Doge : Pietro Campofregoso ( 1450-58 ) Petachina ( it's the name of this type of coins ) Weight : 1,0 g.
  21. I have bought the Spink's book and it arrived last week ... Photos look good but I think the part on anglo-gallic coins could be better ....for example they say this coin has been struck in Cities 1 , 2 , 3 etc but they don't say how can understand if my coin is minted by city 1 or 2 etc
  22. Hi all In the italian forum lamoneta.it there is an interesting where a member asked us if we know why the sovereigns minted between 1985 and 1997 ( exept 1989 ) have been struck only in proof version ... Honestly none of us know the answer ( I try to see on the Marsh's book but I didn't find anything ) so Is there some member who know it ? Thanks Matteo
