I have since found out the NGC one in my post wasnt in a rare set and was more i only saw the NGC scan on Monday / Tuesday and the only other i could find was in an LCA Rare 1953 Set. Posting on here was a way of trying to find anymore and thank you for your pictures. Today (Friday) i have been told of another one, although as i cant find very many i dont really have a clue. They seem to be very rare but like the 1953 Scarcer proof Halfcrowns possibly more than i originally thought as only been looking a few days and all guess work. Maybe as you saw and bought that one a few years ago, you have seen others since ? Can you tell me which Auction and lot number you bought it from please as its definately Obverse 1 and does look like a proof.
-
Can i ask please did you know what you had before the post and did you buy the coin in a proof set or on its own please. I have asked a few people to look at ones they have trying to find some and yours is the first π Most of the currency are obverse 1 but proofs as of today very rare π If you wish to sell it please send me a message.

Thatβs good and never thought to check any that were matte, can you tell me or mail the ngc identification number please.

I hadnt seen or know about these until this morning and appear to be extremely rare. Possibly only found in the 1953 rare (VIP) proof set. Unrecorded Obverese 1 by Freeman in proof. Apologies for the ngc scan not being very clear, only other i have found is one that sold in a rare set at LCA. A friend of mine also bought a 1967 Proof Halfpenny on Sunday, which again i didnt know existed.
-
I am happy to be corrected but sure i am right . The Halfpenny in the RARE 1953 proof set is struck on Obverse 1 , again not listed in Freeman as proof. They do seem extremely rare and the Obverse 1 Halfpenny only in one of the sets sold by LCA. Sorry for the quality of the picture / scan π

I know there is no admin as such but maybe Chris might read this or someone who can help. A friend has been trying to join the forum since the 4th of December. Each time he goes to use it the same message flags up. Something like "we will notify you on approval by email when you have been approved to post " i believe his email shows in the message and is correct. However after a couple of weeks and trying again this morning, still the same. Pete.

Believe me when you SELL them you will be greatfull of any bids and if its a collector or dealer that pushes the price up a Β£1 ($1) is all the same regardless of who gives it you. Richard mentioned pennies selling in the Workman sale of which i know a collector bought 7/8 and a couple of other collectors quite a lot between them both, if those three people hadnt bid then most would of gone for a lot lot less. If Atlas did buy some or any other dealer from the Workman sale, they had the same oportunity and the same pound notes as anyone else and what they chose to offer them for after the sale is up to them. Buying something for Β£20,000 and then asking Β£40,000 doesnt always work out π.

Send Steve Hill an eMail at Sovereign Rarities Gary, they might have a couple left, not sure about the prices realised as they are on the website.

Thankyou, I bought that as only got asked for one off a new collector a couple of weeks ago and as I told him at the time you dont see them often. -
Yes we will disagree, i was happy to post it you free of charge and you were happy to receive it, perfect π.
-
Yes i remember the coin Terry ,its only an opinion and that one i have seen in hand and was cleaned as i said when i posted it you, just the same as the one posted yesterday was.
-
Yes , plenty cleaned pennies are sold everyday.Just depends on what the buyer / seller thinks and will tolerate. some are obviously worse than others. The one pictured you obviously considered to be ok when you bought and received it and just giving my own opinion.
-
Thats just been cleaned as can be seen under the arm and to the right of the trident, with all the lines confirming it.
