  1. I have spoken to Michael Gouby re this coin and he is 100% sure that it is an inverted A. He says : "The centre "A" bar is clear and solid. A tiny bit of the 'foot' of the inverted A can be seen just above the left leg of the 'V'. The 'I' of VIC has also been double struck. I am lucky enough to have taken an enhanced scan of the whole of the word VICTORIA. Richard, if you want to post this picture or my comments on the Pre Decimal website – feel free to do so. I am sorry that I don't seem to have time be active on the forum but I am always willing to help with any question that I can answer. Here is Michael's photo:
  2. I'll start another thread devoted to the 1860Jb (V over inverted A) to avoid confusion.
  3. In fact, I've just emailed him this minute.
  4. I can see what you mean Pete. I wonder if Michael has the original photo ?
  5. I hope you don't mind me putting your coin up on my rare penny website - I'll take it off if you wish, but devoted collectors like myself are very keen to see pictures of these very rare coins. I always put "private collection" when I haven't had permission to quote the owner's name or if they wish to remain anonymous.
  6. Totally honest and reliable.
  7. Interesting thought - if I can get through to a human, I'll try it.
  8. Fedex consistently charge 20% - it's no mistake !!!!! And I've found reclaiming it to be impossible.
  9. For pictures of known 1933 pennies, see my rarest penny website below
  10. Yes, if you buy anything in a Heritage auction they will ship by Fedex and you'll pay another 20% customs duty ! You need to factor that into your bid !
  11. More like 20% via Fedex - I've never been able to reclaim the excess.
  12. Hopefully, Cathrine will enlighten us.
  13. Can anyone answer my question please ?
  14. So, will these coins be sent from the US or England ? It makes a huge difference to the shipping costs.
  15. DNW do indeed make up variety references - they also persistently quote a Bamford number against pennies which is absolute nonsense. These numbers are simply the lot number from the Laurie Bamford sale and bear no resemblance to any unique identifier or variety. I've emailed them to this effect but got no response or acknowledgement.
  16. Yes, that works and is new. Thanks Mike
  17. I saved the link but now it won't show the original entry - Ebay must have changed that aspect of its software (try clicking on the link above !).
  18. Her left hand is too near the prongs of the trident for the F192A.
  19. We who remember 1966 are desperate for a repeat performance. It's only another few days - be patient
  20. Yes, clearly A+c - the long stem on the shamrock is clear and definitely reverse c from the shield/cross details. Satin 2 - Very rare die pairing ! This will be only the 3rd example on my rarest website.
  21. Ian, you should now be able to view www.englishpennies.wordpress.com.
  22. A username of "iannich48" has requested access to my personal collection website but I don't who this is. If you make yourself known to me I will almost certainly grant access.
  23. I'm not sure one can be definite about anything on very worn specimens like this. And, of course, if you can't actually photograph the evidence, in theory you can't actually record it.
