Who was the seller? Some play with the pics before listing, as you might imagine. I link all my pics from an external source, in my case my Wordpress web site, but you should be able to get good jpegs at under 500k to link directly ... there are restrictions on how many to link in a short time period though I believe £38 was just below what I would expect, given the scratches. so good deal. But get a problem-free example!

That's a nice example UIS, great eye appeal, a couple of digs or scratches on the neck, otherwise aUNC for me - good pics too!

These are difficult for sure, I'm sure there are collectors on here that have got examples they acquired 20-30 years ago for a pittance, let's see em! Anyway the search goes on for me, here is my best Rev currently, let's have some more healthy competition

I agree with that Oz, but keeping the faith that there are better strikes out there! This is unlikely to be my keeper,but nonetheless interested in views on this!

Double-struck for me

It has taken me a good long while to find a circulation half crown I am happy with, when it comes to grade, strike and eye appeal. I have now done so and the half crowns that did not make the grade so-to-speak are up for sale (not on eBay as yet) I now want to do the same for circulation 1911-1919 Florins This is not my best example, and it is a rarer date, but it illustrates well what I am after - a much stronger set of lions' faces at 12 o/c on the reverse! If any of you out there know of a better one or have one for sale please PM me .

When I could access the site, there was a member 'senrac' (yes with an N not an M) with a goodly number of CGS graded coins ... just an observation!

I agree with that SS. It's the proposal that in order to verify a CGS coin you have to be a member, at whatever cost and inconvenience, that will be a barrier to trading in them, whether buying or selling - that's the killer for me. I'm also interested in Rob's comment, that the number of 'iffy' items is the same in the US as it is here ... I had assumed it was FAR more of an issue over there!

The database pretty much looks after itself. It's the cost of employing people to provide the service when on average they have slabbed 4,000 coins per year at a charge of around £15 per coin (on average) - annual revenue from slabbing therefore around £60k. The fee is a flawed attempt at turning a profit.

Fundamental flaw is exactly what it is in my book! It wouldn't be quite so bad if they kept the verification function free and charge a fee for access beyond that ...
