    I tried a number of external cooling devices but the mighty Toshiba lap, thigh and unmentionables broiler defeated them all. Now I work between a tower and a Nexus tablet.

    My main gripe with the Toshiba is that they run so bloody hot. Good for frying eggs I suppose.

    I've just scrapped my old Toshiba Satellite laptop and dropped the HDD into a plug 'n play case. Quick simple and cheap. Any old programs can be moved over to your new machine using drag and drop.

    It's hard enough to sell the official sets. The silver would probably be bullion value and the other two less than a tenner the pair.

    A "gentleman" in Caledonian Market would clean his silver coins to a mirror like finish and then leave them in old gear box oil or similar sludge for a month or two to age them. Bearing in mind that the Cally was a dealer's market you'd have thought that he'd be caught out frequently but at five in the morning, most people weren't too aware. Sometimes the smell was a bit of a give away though.

    A search for Proof Pattern Crown on ebay tonight brings up 408 matching records. Quite a large percentage of those will end up in North America.

    I can remember the 10? Rix dollar for Ceylon, a Canadian piece as well as various Scottish and Irish pretences. But it doesn't stop there. Proof Pattern Crowns are available for every ruler from George III to Edward VIII and for every country of the empire and in all sorts of metals and finishes. As I said earlier, they sell well overseas, but in the UK probably around £5.00 retail.

    It's a Canadian Tiffin token, but I need larger pics to determine whether it is genuine or one of the many contemporary imitations. The standard reference works for these are either Charlton or Courteau. There's also a book by Gregory Ingram written around 10 years ago.

    AFAIK there are at least 7 fantasies using that same obverse.

    Same weight and size as this. Modern fantasy, sells well overseas.

    If you have an old webcam check to see if the lens is glued in or screwed in.If it's screwed in, take it out, turn it round and screw back in. Voilà! Instant microscope. If it's glued in, then you have to open the camera case and be creative. But the principle remains the same, turn the lens round.

    First time this has been out of its case in 40 years but it is developing a purplish "tone" Or tarnish, as I call it.

    Pro Causa Justitia struck in the UK 1914 . George V is the central figure, the others are the General Staff. Guide price £12-17. There is supposedly a companion medal struck in 1919 to celebrate peace. I have yet to see one.

    In terms of quality these are more correctly medals/medalets in that they weren't banged out in huge quantities and were not intended for the counting board.
