  1. The name is: Bronzital But that one is Not commonly used I guess ;-)
  2. A mixture of Copper, Nickel & Aluminium...
  3. Well... the specifications are: Weight: around 3.99 Gramm Diameter: around 20.02 mm Thickness: variable 1.54-1.98 mm Does anybody of have an idea what kind of blank was used in that case?
  4. Hi Folks! I purchased a 1994 Penny struck in Aluminum brass from DNW last year. The Royal Mint confirmes that it is genuine.
  5. And by the way (again)... by fighting against Germany in two great wars, the United Kingdom lost its economy, its strenght and last but not least its empire... In the mid of the 20th century Great Britain was bankrupt, penniless, insolvent... That can numismaticaly be seen by the second abolishment of the gold standard in the early thirties as well as the withdrawal from silver coinage in the late fourties... The only remaining winner was... the US, strengthend by the two world wars (the third man lucky) And that as british citizen must be very painfull, especially because politicians like Kitchener (and a lot of others world wide) forced the world into war...
  6. I do not think that any current member of the European Currency Union would consider to use such a motiv for a commemorative 2 Euro coin. The European Union including the common currency was a consequence of the two great World Wars in the 20th century. Rather to do commerce then killing each other... And by the way, in that time no European (as well Japan and later the US) country was fighting for freedom and democracy. They fought for money, resources and the aquirement of colonies. In times of imperialism and colonism every power on this planet looked jealously on the achievements of other nations.
  7. Adeste fideles laeti triumphantes, Venite, venite in Bethlehem. Natum videte Regem angelorum. Venite adoremus, venite adoremus Dominum. That is my favorite scene in that movie
  8. Following this topic I would like to introduce you that movie: http://viooz.co/movies/15060-joyeux-noel-2005.html (try several times, especially in the evening the server is very busy) That movie should be shown in television throughout Europe every christmas eve!!!
  9. Well... the outcome of the vote would be fixed. Entering and leaving the union periodicaly is not reliable. Britains discharge out of the Union would have extensive consequences to my personal book project as well... Customs, visa, ect...
  10. Very interesting discussion here... I certainly have a deja vu. All these thinks are discussed the same way here in Germany. My home country gave his "powerfull currency" in exchange for the Euro. Most likely that was an accomodation to Western allies/Europe in exchange for the unification of Western & Eastern Germany. But hey... the Euro is FIAT MONEY, like the D-Mark was or the Swiss Franc, the US-Dollar and even your Pound. FIAT MONEY is a method for additional taxation via inflation, regardless the currencies name. I heared about the plan to vote anew about the EU-membership of the United Kingdom. Some EU hostile groups embrace the vote in the UK. The say that Germany should follow that example. But the majority of the population has the opinion that the UK should leave the Union if the British population advocates that. Great Britain does mess up European politics anyways they say. The old British (splendid isolation) versus continental contrast again...
  11. song no. 1 song no 2

  14. I got the bit about birds not singing and without you, but not much more! But then I can't speak Spanish and still enjoy Shakira! Try that one: I will go into the firs, there where I her last seen, but the evening threw a cloth onto the country, and on the ways term edge of forest, and the forest rises so black and empty, pain me oh pain, and the birds do not sing no more Without you I cannot be, without you, with you am I also alone, without you, without you count ' I the hours, without you, with you the seconds stand, are not worth On the branches in the ditches, it is now quiet and without lives, and breathing falls me oh so heavily, pain me oh pain, and the birds do not sing no more Without you I cannot be, without you, with you am I also alone, without you, without you count ' I the hours, without you, with you the seconds stand, are not worth, without you and breathing falls me oh so heavily, pain oh pain, and the birds do not sing no more Without you I cannot be, without you, with you am I also alone, without you, without you count ' I the hours, without you, with you the seconds stand, are not worth, without you Without you! Without you! Without you! Source: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/rammstein/ohne+dich+english_20946944.html :) :)

  18. natural toning starts from the edge and moves inwards...
  19. That is an elder scan made with a scanner I owned two years ago... 3 Mark 1915 A Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach, Jaeger No. 163 100. anniversary of the states promotion to a grand dutchy 0.900 silver, 11,11 gr., diameter 28,00 mm toning is growing still... But i will never dip it
  20. Nope, those are die polish lines, not cleaning. All of the 1946 Luxembourg issues of 20, 50, and 100 Francs have these die polish lines. Particularly the 100 Francs coin. None of the lines go up on the devices, and are "raised" on the surface (not cut in). This is a pretty common occurrence on coins of this era. Here's the obverse of the 100 Francs coin purchased from the same dealer at the same time. No toning, but lots of die polish lines and semi-prooflike surfaces. Ok!!
  21. The pity thing is, that there are hairline below the toning. Some silly person polished the coin with some brush or cloth
  22. Treat silver coins with a mild detergent. That is sufficient
