  1. to be honest... that piece locks not very attractive to me. The coin shows too many rim defects.
  2. Presumably you will upgrade that Filler when something better comes along? Whenever I find a first/early strike I will let you know
  3. 20 Filler 1914 from Hungary, KM#483, Nickel, minted 1892~1914
  4. 5 DM 1951 G (Karlsruhe mint) 5 DM 1951 J (Hamburg mint)
  5. Found several 5 Deutsche Mark in higher grade at a local coin fair. 5 DM, Jaeger No. 387, 0.625 silver, minted 1951~1974 5 DM 1951 D (Munich mint) 5 DM 1951 F (Stuttgart mint)
  6. Very interesting! May I ask for a more detailed scan please? :-)
  7. Best example I ever found, it has a few bag marks and seems to be about uncircuated Greetings from Germany
  8. There is no way to remove the gold gilding. By gilding the coin surface is irreversibly modified.
  9. Luxembourg 10 Centimes 1865 has been imported by traders into & used in the United Kingdom as Penny tokens alike the so called French Pennies.
  10. A nice cupric Duit 1746 (coat of arms of the Province of Holland) issued by the Dutch East India Company. Found that coin for 2 Euro a few years ago...
  11. in case anyone is interested in Tokens I found these fabulous items on the German eBay web page: http://www.ebay.de/itm/221453287463?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.de/itm/221453290100?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 These tokens are not within my focus (and I am not the seller) Cheers
  12. Would never clean an old silver coin bearing natural toning.
  13. here are some more Canadian items. It is quite difficult to obtain and furthermore to preserve high grade Bronze/copper coins...
  14. That is the best example I have in my collection. A fellow collector and friend of mine (he is Canadian and lives in Ontario) gave me that one.
  15. toning is very helpful in this regard
  16. The documentation of BU/early proof coins is quite tricky.Scans appear very dark and the picture shows little contrast a 1974 proof 10 Pence in comparison that regular piece...
  17. That is a quite interesting source and I thought in creating an account. But then I had a closer look onto the terms of use. Below you find an extract: 6. Your User Contribution and Conduct A. As a Colnect account holder you may submit relevant content. Adding items to the catalogs, editing the catalogs, adding item comments, translations, posting in the forums or sending private messages are collectively referred to as "User Contributions." You understand that Colnect does not guarantee any confidentiality with respect to any User Contributions. B. You shall be solely responsible for your own User Contributions and the consequences of posting or publishing them. In connection with User Contributions, you affirm, represent, and/or warrant that: you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize Colnect to use all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in and to any and all User Contributions to enable inclusion and use of the User Contributions in the manner contemplated by the Website and these Terms of Service. That sounds ok for me. But then I read that part: C. For clarity, you waive all of your ownership rights in your User Contributions. [...] This makes a membership unattractive in my point of view. Suggestions? What do you think?
  18. Interesting info! Many thanks!
  19. I purchased a lot containing these (in my view) beautiful and well struck medals. But to be honest, I do not know by whom or on which occasion these medals were minted. Yet I can not give you the parameters like weight, diameter or thickness.
  20. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium_bronze Just copy and paste that link into your browser.
