That is the kind of uncertainty I want to avoid. I need reproducable and stable results under constantly the same conditions in order to have the possibility to compare. The easiest and cheapest way to achieve that is a scanner

it works again...

scanning in Cameo proofs is satisfying because of sufficient contrast between the mirror and mate areas of the coin surface... proof with pure mirror finish are quite difficult. Tried to post more pics, but I got the message that I am not allowed to post more pictures in that community... I will look that up today in the evening and post that afterwards

ChKy, are these exceptional examples of your scanner's capability, or are they representational? The images here are excellent for a scanner, what kind of resolution do you get? Did you resize the images here? That results are more or less standard. Here are other examples: I have to admit, that scanning of copper coins is a big task! Feel free to contact me via PM regarding the scanner, resolution ect

It depends on what kind of scanner you prefer to use and on the photoshop version of course. Usually I scan in all my coins... just try that one: CCD technology scanners

Ok folks! As can be seen in a neighbouring threat, people from forum solved my severe problem ;-) This is what i tried to show you. That is a Victorian penny with a flaw at the rim. Any ideas? Either the blanck had a defect prior mintage or the coin missed the chance to leave the area of the dies before the next coin was struck

ok... seems that the editing problem is solved. But the problem with the pictures persists ;-)

Dear all. I am a member of this forum since Nov. 2011. I know that I post quite rarely. But sometimes i would like to show you something interesting. For that reason it is nessessary to include images into my posts. I remember that it was very sinple to link an image which was deposited in my photobucket account. That is not possible any more. Well... how can I include pictures into my messages? Furthermore I would like to know why I can not correct my entries after submission? well... English is not my mother tongue. So, therefore and sometimes there are mistakes in spelling/grammar... And I saw that modification of posts are possible. Is anybody out there to give me some advise in that regard? many thanks :-)

Hi Folks. I attended a local coin fair last Sunday and spend a few Euro on one of these numerous Churchill Crowns. I purchased that because this particular specimen because it is sharply struck and shows a semi-gloss appearance. But there is some ghosting visible as well... Sorry, tried to insert a pic from photobucket, but that was not possible. Many changes must have been made on that forum software after my last post.... Might be an early strike, but heared about the so called "Satin Finish" as well. can somebody of you explain how to identify such a specimen? many thanks

Once again... it is very usefull and not harmfull to have as much literature as possible And I will purchase the catalogue of davies by chance as well. By the way... I do have the pdf of the 1982 stafford paper. In case there is any interest let me know via IM please. And hopefully I will get some more papers dealing with coin varieties soon.
