  1. Yeah I've reverted to a static one, in this case, Catbert the evil HR Director from Dilbert
  2. Yes, this is what's known as the die axis. In this case it is Up-Down (that meaning the obverse is facing the right way, but when you turn it around, the reverse is upside down). If you attach a picture, we can value it if you want but you'd have to also include the edge inscription with it as there are many varieties. So in conclusion, it is common - it would be rare if both sides were the right way around!
  3. I don't think we have any banknote people here do we? I'd say go to a library and do further research, I'm sure there will be a book on it
  4. Well I've no idea where Oxford Road is. Oh this is hard to explain, it's quite a way out (the lower classes start appearing then). I tried to find a map but I couldn't. I know Affleck's Palace is near Debenhams which is up Market Strett but that probably doesnt mean anything.
  5. oh thats a bugger. pff i guess I'll have to redo it and mess with it for a while
  6. What's your view on tramps/vagants/the homeless, whatever you want to call them. I'm asking this because I've just returned from a jolly time in Manchester but when walking from Affleck's Palace I got accosted by this tramp. He was big and hairy and said "Hi I'm not a troublemaker, I'm homeless". So I just walked past him as you do but then he followed me and I was scared because I thought he would mug me or something. Luckily however, I dived into Harvey Nichols and the doorman wouldn't let him pass. So yeah what's your view?
  7. ooh is it a red x? It comes up as a rotating edward VII sovereign on mine
  8. Well done, William
  9. I could never get the hang of the moving ones but check out my jazzy new one! The edging's a bit orf but what can you expect!?
  10. When I was doing my work experience at the stockbroker's, they had lots of stock certificates hung on the wall and I remarked how exquisite they were. So now I'm thinking I might like to get into scripophily (that is the collecting of share certificates, bonds etc.) Does anybody on here collect them and have any pointers? I want them mainly for their visual delight rather than monetary value but, you know, it helps!
  11. ^^^ I am truly in awe of Geoff's knowledge ^^^
  12. Ahh clever
  13. Hmm commemorative. I think it was produced by the Channel Islands or Guernsey or Jersey etc. I have no idea of the value
  14. Yes, a new word needs to be coined (geddit) for the un-rarity of them
  15. Thanks for the info - not that i'll be on
  16. 1967 BU pennies are ubiquitous
  17. Buying stuff duh
  18. From a valuation point of view, it is as much use as perhaps..........a 1967 BU penny *cough cough cough*
  19. Indian methinks
  20. That's incredibly disappointing ^^^^ We were thinking medals but no its a token from a petrol station!
  21. No, Geoff, to quote G W Bush you "misunderestimate me", it was a typo it meant to say "Philip I think" as opposed to "PhilipI think"
  22. Yes, this dead wood sounds intriguing - tell us more! I voted 100- whatever the upper bound was
  23. It has worked but the pic's a bit dodgy. Well it's Spanish, King PhilipI think. We'd need someone with a copy of Krause to tell you more
  24. From whati can see (and that's very little), it is in terrible condition. In my view, it isn't worth a nickel
