  1. Urban is my first choice, with Adeodatus in second.
  2. I saw that - shocking!
  3. And precisely which do you count as rubbish? G For me, I hate to look at post Edward VII stuff, of which there used to be the bulk in the old category. This new period nicely encapsulates G3 to Victoria
  4. eBay have split milled coinage into two; 1816-1901 and 1901-1971. Finally I don't have to trawl through loads of rubbish!
  5. Yes it does...but what other coin could it be?...maybe the farthing was flatened a little in order to merge with the threepence. I wasn't thinking necessarily a circ coin, perhaps a model.
  6. Yes I can see the rim of the 3d, but doesn't the rim of the farthing look wider than the norm? Or am I seeing things?
  7. I was a bit perplexed when JMD said it was a farthing; the rim looks far too large for a farthing. Saying that, the reverse could have been worn off to make it smooth.
  8. Rainier changed the constitution so that if he had no heir, the principality would not become French territory. I think this was one of his greatest achievments, thereby ensuring the continuation of Grimaldi rule. Well, we'll just see how Albert fares - his Father said he lacked "the necessary toughness" to rule. Anyway, RIP Rainier.
  9. Genealogy is interesting, my great Aunt traced our family tree back to the Dark Ages and painted it all out on canvas, because she happens to be an artist too! I found out that I'm related to Robert Peel, PM and founder of the Metropolitan Police.
  10. His internet is down until the end of April/start of May. Oh and kudos to everyone for making this the best British coin forum on the damn planet!
  11. I'm here also. It's been the Easter Holidays so I was out and about doing other things!
  12. How the heck does an 1884 farthing end up in an American cash register in 2005?!
  13. What it actually says is JOANNES. VI D. G. PORT. Br AND ALG. R. which means Jean VI by the Grace of God, King Of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarve. If you could give us any more information, like what design the coin has on the reverse, the diameter, or the metal, it would help greatly with identification. Alternatively, register and post a picture/scan of it.
  14. First off, it's not a coin, it's a medal commemorating George IV's coronation. It is an unofficial one, probably contemporary. It's not a counterfeit, another company just struck them (much like we have unofficial Royal memorabilia today). The real deal in silver is shown below.

    ESC

The same people from whom I bought my copy of ESC for under a fiver are selling another, due to end in a couple of days. I thought I'd give those who are interested a heads up. eBay
  16. Coincraft's is also quite comprehensive.
  17. Or you could copy it word for word and just credit the Royal Mint.
  18. That scheister Gary Phelps has had to do it. All he seems to sell is tacky repros and all out fakes. They're even on Andy's site - I was on the point of emailing Andy to ask him to ban him because he lowers the tone!
  19. You're certainly tempting me. How can I pay? Paypal? Cheque? Would I have to pay a surcharge for Paypal? etc etc.
  20. I set up a blacklist on here months ago but I think it went to the bottom of the pile. Sharpclaw is another seller who doesn't send the same coins as in his pictures.
  21. I used to but then I realised I didn't actually like them and was just collecting for collecting's sake so I spent them in Paris.
  22. They must have a reason for it. As much as I would love to give you all my Paypal and bank details so we can have a blossoming business relationship, I'm going to have to decline. If only you lived in somewhere more reputable like Russia or Georgia.
  23. I enjoyed looking through the displays in his shop, but I found the staff to be quite brusque.
  24. Finally, I've been waiting ages for this! I hope you add pictures to all you items, the medals look intriguing. Well done!
