  1. Nice coin. A bit rich for me, so I'll hang on to my "EF with lustre" (it only cost me 18 squid ), but yours would be a really good upgrade. The one thing I dislike about that particular date is that they used up their worn out reverse dies on it, knowing full well that a new design was months if not weeks away. It rather spoils the appeal of a scarce variety (just like the 'worn die' reverse of 1917 sixpences). I'll price it a little lower for a Forum Member.....
  2. They are very expensive ~ I'd only bid on a Heritage item if it was something I really wanted and had long been unable to get elsewhere. Michael, I bid the 1860/59 up to $7,750, but was underbidder to the winner at $8000 (w/Premium $9,400). That was my limit! I have one in AEF, but I wanted this one in UNC.
  3. Here is another coin I picked up in NYC last week. A uncirculated 1895 Young Head Farthing. The toning on it is streaked somewhat, but it is a decent example. I have just listed it on my website (NEW Category), but can price it a little better, if anyone is interested.
  4. Azda, You have a good eye! The colons you refer to are as a result of a "filled" die. They are both there, but appear to have been "broken" off, with a uneven edge left where the colon dot would be, as a result. I also picked up a uncirculated 1895 YH Farthing. It does have a rather streaked toning though. I will post it later.
  5. Happy Birthday Guys! Many Happy Returns of the Day!
  6. Accumulator...you have a very nice example...not a lot of difference.
  7. I haven't "bothered" my wife with what it cost! Ha,Ha. She doesn't have to know everything! LOL!
  8. Here is the Obverse!
  9. This is a coin I just purchased from Stephen Hill, at the New York International Numismatic Convention, in NYC. It is a 1875 Narrow Date Penny. I'll send the Obverse in the next post, since the file size is too big to add both to the same post.
  10. The estimate for the 1860/59 was $6,000 to $7,500, without commission. I went over the high estimate ($7,750), but still lost! The commission is +17.5%.
  11. The 1860/59 Penny went for $9,400, including dealer commission ($8,000 without!). I was the underbidder!
  12. I haven't looked at the coins, but there is a 1862 with the sig., and I am guessing they are trying to say "no sig" means it is not the F-38. As for the "details" grading...that always refers to a coin with a defect. Thus the grading for surface lines. The details grading is usually done by NCS...not NGC, though they are both the same Company. You probably already know all this though! LOL!
  13. Rob, Vicky, I took a look at the "Spink" 1860/59, and while the pic is not as good, the Heritage coin does look superior to the Spink example...though both are sharp examples! I may bid on the Heritage coin...price will determine how high, however! Ha,Ha!
  14. Greg, Being from the USA, I was constantly mis-grading the coins of Great Britain. I really enjoy having the "Standard Guide to Grading English Coins". It is a great reference.
  15. At our age. my Wife and I stay up, at home, and watch the ball drop in Times Square in New York, at midnight. Have a little white wine, and shrimp, and have a private evening. Here in the U.S. New Year's Eve is called "Amateur Hour" due to all the drunks on the streets. I have kinda out grown that (finally! Ha,Ha)
  16. Rob, Is there anywhere that you can see the Colin Adams example? Please advise if there is. Thanks,
  17. Has anyone noticed lot 20954? It is a uncirculated 1860/59 Penny. Should go for quite a sum!
  18. David, Azda, Well, we only got 10" of snow total, so it wasn't as bad as it was supposed to be. The 10" of snow, however, was more than we got all last winter! Ha,Ha. Last winter was more like Autumn than Winter though! I'm getting ready to go to the New York International Numismatic Convention in January. It is the best coin Bourse in America for World Coins. Many dealers from Great Britain, and Australia are there. I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe I can find a delayed Christmas Present there! LOL!
  19. I wish Santa had left me a coin for Christmas...instead he left me a white-out Blizzard! I can't even see the house across the street, the snow is blowing so hard. We have 8" of snow on the ground now, with 5" to 7" more due in the next 5 hours. Needless to say, I am staying inside today! Good time to go over some coins! LOL!
  20. 1949, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year, to you, and also everyone on the Forum. I think 2013 is going to be a good year! All the Best, Bob
  21. Debbie, Any way you pronounce it or spell it, is ok! LOL! It's the thought that counts!
  22. Thanks to everyone for the Birthday Wishes. I really had a nice Birthday this year. Some old friends of mine even had a surprise Birthday Party for me. That is a real treat at 77 year old!Ha,Ha. The Birthday Wishes were appreciated. Bob C. (Robert) LOL!
  23. dos = disk operating system...LOL!
  24. I think I's have to agree with Bernie, about the possibility of two different Obverse dies, since the "R" in your coin is doubled in one direction, and the "R" in mine is doubled the opposite direction.
  25. David, Here is the Obverse, and the Doubled "A" in Victoria, on my coin. I think your coin has the same doubling, but the bottom of the right leg of the "A" is worn, and just looks extended as a result.
