  1. I've noticed this myself Nick. My normal pictures are bigger than ebay enlarged ones which to me is quite strange.......I've enlarged my own pictures on ebay only to find they are smaller than the ones i've uploaded or are on the main auction picture.
  2. Same guy with the original post and the fake coin. He basically buys the Coins mostly from the UK for buttons, gets them slabbed and adds a few hundred £s, slabs must be expensive these days. What i still don't understand is that he's in Patis so is PCGS now, so why ship to NGC?
  3. Looking for capital John.......
  4. Open to offers on this, trying to raise a little capital...........
  5. Apparently a toned EF 120997312075 Mr Platt now using his wifes eBay to talk shite, toned yes, EF errrrrr no Insert url please......
  6. Wow, 95 downloads of the initial picture. Generated some interest then? lol So for my next trick, i've just spotted a Marsh 46A..............For those unfamiliar with Marsh then it's Spink 3852F.............Wallets out for the Sovereign boys............€6000 estimate which is'nt too bad

You should try various ways and setting pies, as Peck said, i do all my pictures outside, i have a balcony here in Munich so it's not generally a problem if it rains either. Just try different ways and see what suits you and the camera best, i also use the highest resolution settings plus macro mode, it all works for me and get great results with a 5 year old Olympus 8mmp camera. P.s, the bigger the coin, the nearer to it you can take a picture, smaller coins need a bit of distance inbetween, i have'nt quite mastered copper bronze yet but am working on that, and lastly, always make sure there's a bit of land between the coin so you can crop and rotate if required
  8. I'm inclined to agree with pies here, in the centre of the 5 between the middle point of the 5 and end of the 5 there is a distinct join between those to points, and inside the 5, in the centre again on the right there is a protrusion. Only problem with that theory is that if it were a 6 it does'nt join all the way round Anyone else see this?
  9. It would be quite fun to 'buy' it on ebay and then fail to pay, leaving the seller with a bill of 10% i.e. £152,100 for the ebay fees. Now that would be adding to the Greek debt crisis!! Joking aside (am I?), it looks to me as if this is either a counterfeit (the Jubilee head looks a bit rough) or this is a marriage of a hollowed out Jubilee head coin with an inserted George V 1918 reverse - looks like the India mintmark to me. Can I see a rather sharp looking line around the inner rim on the reverse? Taking a second look at the close up, there seems to be some white metal showing through in places, which possibly means its a fake, maybe like the ones I found a few years ago, which I reckon were made from depleted Uranium to give the correct weight. The 10% only applies to the 1st 750, so it would only cost $75 £75
  10. I think he's probably in a straight jacket by now, numpty
  11. No, I didn't update it, when's 6.1 out, Dave, do you know? My eBay app's up-to-date though??? Really annoying! Don't know when its out Stuart, but Apple knows there was a lot of problems with it, might be a few weeks or longer
  12. Did you Update to os6? Lots of problems, perhaps the eBay app also had a problem. I have'nt updated yet, waiting for 6.1 before doing so
  13. No problems to report here Stuart with email replies
  14. Living in the middle of a 200 acre estate he probably thought he did'nt need it.........Mannnnn what a huge loss this is
  15. Another interesting one from China http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180982201067?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D180982201067%26_rdc%3D1
  16. She's a seller after your own heart Dave - "I have to of these" Lol, i emailed and asked if she'd give ME a quid two Take it off her hands :-D I sent her a message saying it's what "we in the trade call a washer" and that even her starting price of 99p overvalues it
  17. Hahahaha, i love his description of value:
  18. Bear in mind Gary, baldwins had 3 sales last week so they will be busy and may Take a week to get your invoice Special delivery plus a little bit for packaging. £10 in the odd hundred or thousand or two won't break the bank. I won a lot at the Baldwins auction last week via the Saleroom. What happens now? Do I get an invoice though the post or by email etc.?
  19. Most of My invoices have come by email, i then Phone them to Pay. Regarding postage, some auction houses use 3rd Party carriers and they basically Charge what they want. I've had postage costs ranging from £10 to £25 in extreme cases and thats only for coins shipped inside the UK and not to me in Germany.
  20. As wirh an eBay snipe Never Show your hand until later. Bidding Can be fast and furious and may well go past what you are prepared to pay anyway, if it does'nt and it slows down thats when i jump in. There is also on a majority of theae auctions a 3% surcharge for bidding live with the Saleroom
  21. This dipped one from our friend in Truro is apparently AU 120992222929
  22. That looks great, Numidan! The only thing that sprung to mind was how strike weakness could be factored into the equation? Superb idea though, which for the main part could work! At the end of the day a grade's a grade! Bag marks, edge knocks, etc, only affect appeal, and consequently value! Would be a very good start to get the grade right! I'm still trying to work out what the diagrams are of I'm assuming of something that someone could use in grading terms. -5 being good and -50 poor etc. I thought Derek Riley brought out a book for such requirements? Grading is always going to be subjective, no matter how we all think, we've seen it so MANNNNNNY times on this forum where we as experienced collectors do not agree, so we should basically pass that subject by and work on the rest.
  23. Maybe Rob won it, he can sell you it for £200
