  1. havn't seen many 2008's recently, never seen the brittania 50p though i'm too busy going for that 20p, even though it seems everywhere is running out of 20ps....
  2. dont think 2009's are out, dont think there will be errors they ditched the old design didn't they?
  3. well wouldn't value depend on the alignments of the dots, but yea there are errors as odd as that around, i have a thin planchet 1975 5p lol
  4. firstly, which would you have, i have got this from the royal mint site mintage 1988 --- 7,118,825 2008 --- 3,910,000 (Royal Arms) so the 2008 has half the mintage of the 1988 (well more) yet i havn't seen a 1988 in a few years, i'm hording these based on those figures (strangly enough i have 4 of them and only have 2 of the other type...) so would keeping these £1's be more desirable in the future then the 88's as people do not know about the rarity yet? or will it be that 1988's will always be more desirable
  5. its not the royal mint, its the london mint (the rip off selling one ) doesnt help that chris moyles mentioned it briefly today either >.< i really want one, not paying £50 though, and now i wont get one in my change
  6. i saw one listed as 2008 20p, with a picture of the reverse, it was £18.11
  7. yea and not only that, us collectors will miss out because people will be looking for them
  8. good god, they are selling for silly money on ebay, like £90-500
  9. yea its those mules that used to sell for £20, very dissapointed about them being annouced, now i will never flipping find one
  10. anyone else found one yet? i'm curious if this is a 1 off strike or a faulty batch, would be interesting to find out if i can class it as a variant and what value it would have
  11. another possible fake http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=967955 an interesting one, some details seem to point to fake, (letters on both sides scratched more then normal they usualy rub, few oddities on the ONE especially the E, and the alignment of the side text, it does rotate to more of the middle on the other side) http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=967956 what about these 2
  12. there is none, perhaps a project for one of us. there is of course online referances but thats not 100% coverage
  13. as for the pounds, there are many differant "standards" to these fakes, i already have a thread linking some of the fake pounds i have found, the mix is interesting http://www.predecimal.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4344 i will update this thread is i find new ones of course, but some are very nice (the 1998 one for example, very little to determine its fake except the date)
  14. yea, i kinda like those george V aussie coins. i prefer the british stuff, have a few variants myself http://www.triton.vg/pennies.html i use this, covers varieites for aussie pennies
  15. i origonally kept this back for the reverse off centre error, never took much notice on the obverse until someone noticed something missing... there is no dot at the bottom of the obverse, no reason for there to not be, strike looks clean enough (no fading of detail near the dot location, no scratch, its just... not there) i wonder if there a dodgey batch with no dot?
  16. 1946 and 1949 also edward VIII any shiny ones, too, any date those are worth £1 or 2 depending how good they are.
  17. they are clear, in the enlarged parts, i cant go too big or it loses the detail.
  18. £4,400 for platinum ones O.o
  19. its supposed to be rare. i havn't seen one yet either
  20. wern't 1967's minted all the way through to 1970? dunno about the dies though, the early 2008's were littered with die errors lol, i'm guessing with the modern figures its more or less accurate but earlier ones would be vague, would there be someone counting? lol
  21. ok the REG thing is common on farthings. but whats going on with the I in Victoria and the large join between the portrait and B (large dye break?)
  22. wow nice, dont forget the 2 over 1 too, butcan mine be listed as a veriant
  23. yea a picture would be great, this sounds exciting
  24. yea, i love those good cheap coins with a sort of charm about them. i know they were minted before 1735, but there were differant designs i have 3 of these coins in my collection, on of which is 1734. it does depend on this damage though. http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=962343 1734 so yea http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=962780 1750 not damaged, minting error http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=962972 1966 differant design.
  25. it pops up in a few places. 1925 halfcrown had 1.5 million yet is worth more then the 809k 1930
