  1. ghosting happened even with the small head i think it was on halfpennys and farthings as well. so ME is either R3 or R4 :/ and i dont see 1897 high tide being R14 i can see there being more then 500 of those i like the imperial portrait
  2. i have 2 1988's 2008's arms design is lower mintage, i sucked a few of those out of curculation instantly
  3. so how many 1897 high tides are there, wonder if people noticed those
  4. who is looking for them, you dont expect them, how many people spot the 1992 10p and 20p varietys?
  5. i dont even know what they look like to find them
  6. if it is an obvious differance then maybe people would keep them back, hence the H and KN's
  7. this happens becase the governments do not care, it isnt in curculation it doesnt matter. http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=18178 US congress is having a look it seems
  8. i would go on a limb and say that 1/4 were ME's. they do appear more often that say 1869 and 1871, maybe the reason no one kept them was because money was tight around that period so were more likely to be spent.
  9. those scout 50p's are hard to find.. i have only ever seen 3 of them :/, 2 of which were owned by others that 1981 crown does look far better in gold tbh, i got a guilded and holed bun head halfpenny, nice little curiosity
  10. i have one coin i bought under scrap (1882 halfcrown) and i wouldn't consider melting it, afterall, the minting figures on these wern't exactly high in the first place.
  11. because bidders on a budget would have to consider it, i know i have to and some postage prices are there to "bump up the price"
  12. £6 postage puts people off no end
  13. it is there but faint, this happens all the way through the series though
  14. i'll give you £5.01 for them
  15. yes but yanks go for "natural" toning more on silver, i do like a nice bit of toning on my silvers though, if anything to show it is of that age.
  16. meh slabs, i would lony slab by special coins, for identification purposes
  17. was looking on about farthings at the varietys for 1773. mine is the same as that reverse except mine has the last 3 is the one that the one on the picture is recut over (BRITAN closly placed) there is also a dot after the date, the obverse is obverse B (the nose pointings between A and B are slightly differant ) so what to do, is this now the offical 9+B? or is this 11+B as we already have a 10? from what i can see the current reverse 9 came AFTER this one (as i said the 3 on the current REV 9 is over the location of the 3 on mine)
  18. sadly it does, i dunno why
  19. i have more cross fours then regular 4 1864 pennys. speaking of which, what should i do about this one
  20. i wonder if there is is an 1863 die 6? and now i have to look through the 1926's... thanks i wasnt aware of any differance in reverses from 1926 and 27
  21. i'll have to keep a lookout for these, the sort of thing that can easily slip under the radar
  22. now i only see reverse of the pennys
  23. look at american stuff, every repunch, slight misalignment and flaw is a variety... i have never understood why some bun head pennys are listed as wide and narrow date, and some not
  24. looks like one to me, i think the giveaway are teeth instead of beads
  25. actually rare coins can be found cheaply anywhere i got an 1888 groat in a bulk buy with a 1826 halfpenny and 1864 penny (crossiet 4) for a fiver a 1875 H with 3 1912h and 1 1918h for a couple of quid as well as a £20 bulk lot of 200 odd coins which contained a single coin worth £40-60 those 2 off ebay i can get worn bunheads at my dealers for 5-25p (dependant on how much wear) and if they dont check the dates.. even the rare ones
