  1. So kookaburra is Aussie slang for a gouge? That's odd, I thought it was a native bird 4 Negs and 1 Neutral does'nt exactly fill me with confidence either in his short ebay life They were over a year ago.Since then he has redeemed himself.
  2. Ye gods. Almost £25 for a VF 1887 shilling that can be got for around a fiver! If they can sell 5 in week you will have to sell 25. It is a bit like another BNTA member asking £90 for a F 1946 3d. My purchase list is now limited although I can be tempted on other denominations...Farthings varieties 1st but I like a few hammered and selected top quality other coins.
  3. Heads up for interested parties http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NICE-QUALITY-CONTEMPORARY-FORGERY-OF-A-VICTORIA-1889-CROWN-/200796839424?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item2ec06c9e00#ht_500wt_1287
  4. Seriously though...who the hell would shit near a fan? After my dog has a good beef bone we put him outside...until he has done the business.Wiff not pleasant.
  5. Radcliffe is not running.Just heard it.At least the street cleaners won't be so hard worked.
  6. Although no a left winger I really did enjoy it.Perfect IMO.
  7. I have been watching the Olympics today and I am stunned by the empty seats. We had planned to go as a family of 4 for a taste. The tickets were unobtainable.I have an ex Colleague who lives about 1/2 mile from the Olympic areas who has always managed to get tickets for the FA cup etc but he has no contacts for these Olympic tickets. He has said we can bring down sleeping bags but he cannot get tickets. This looks like a corporate farce. Plus the BBC are quite inept after watching the Cavendish failure. They hadn't a clue.
  8. 100% agree with you both, I think the G3 copper series is a very pretty run of coins, would make a very eye-appealing collection, I've been tempted myself! I particularly love the chestnut tones that seem to turn up quite regularly with these coins, like nothing I've noticed on any other copper. I think I would try and get the full set in this colour, would look breathtaking I think! How many do you want? Decent stuff is few and far between unless your wallet is bottomless. I love honest coins in circulation which have somehow escaped the riddles of time.Looking back at my records all 3 were purchased for less than £275 total sum(I will take all your stock at that price )1 was negotiated with a dealer and 2 were best offers on Ebay. If you can manage this Rob I will take your stock
  9. Although not the most handsome I do like 18C copper George 111.Why I like it maybe influenced by the reverse's. If I see a decent one I can't resist and will always go for it. http://www.omnicoin.com/viewcoin/937529 http://www.omnicoin.com/viewcoin/973636 I also like Croker's George 1 http://www.omnicoin.com/viewcoin/902790
  10. Only 2 bidders were willing to part with over £80. It very nearly crashed and burned.
  11. Gone
  12. It must be so frustrating for you as ex police to see these things going on John! It is blatant that this person knows what he is doing. If more than one person told me I had a fake listed I would cancel the auction right away. I just had a reply from him saying he was "leaving it up to his nephew and the highest bidder to take it to the Royal Mint for identification"...???? On a lighter note, he also said "he has had some abuse" about it, so thats nice I might of said something.
  13. What a complete f***wit
  14. It has a whiff of beansprouts and egg fried rice
  15. Brilliant info seuk. Very much appreciated.I will not be making rash buys.
  16. As the coins are damaged I'm afraid only bullion value. You can get 50p per gramme from trustworthy scrapers. Welcome to the forum we are here to help
  17. Spot on Peck. I have never seen a slab with a space for an old coin ticket. And you are reliant on the TPG getting it right, which is a real problem. Famous names from the past are rarely noted on the slab, but I've seen two coins for certain with the incorrect provenance on the label. One I now own and the other I wasn't prepared to bid up as the name (Norweb) appeals to US collectors who accordingly were bidding by number plus name. Not to mention the fact that there are occasions where TPGC's can't even get the denomination right on a slab! I have pointed out errors in Exeter and my local museum but they don't care. Mrs Peter finds it quite funny. But there again I couldn't tell the difference between a skull of a rabbit to a hare.
  18. Don't believe everything they tell you. I phoned FL last year about my low cost endowment (paid up halfway through term). They told me "About 9k". I asked if this included final bonus and was told that would bring it just short of £10k. Now I'm told they're sending me a cheque for £13k. And the economy is even worse than this time last year! £3k would be a nice out on the town Peck.I have to rely on Tesco vouchers.
  19. Dagnabbit, I had better get my offers in quick, love a bargain me ... I must be a bargain.Bringing up 2 kids a dog and cat and all I want is my daughters to comb my hair and the occasional back tickle from Mrs Peter.I will be Dad's taxi and I also love a shopping spree. All I ask is proper food every night(and maybe a bit of vino).....OH and a cup of tea if I'm making an early start....loose leaf of course.
  20. It has been said before but I will repeat it.Buy the best you can.A £10 gamble on Ebay is good fun.You will pick up a few bargains but it is a jungle out there.Learn your subject (and that means books, internet advice) I have bought many a coin on Ebay but I have a limit.Know your top price and enjoy. My didn't win on Ebay is much larger than won.I also have favoured dealers who I will use again and again.Be prepared to pay too much.Get yourself to a proper fair (Midland,London,Wakefield,York,Harrogate)Go with a few £ and you will find something nice.I have bought some really nice stuff.Patience and know your subject.
  21. Damn nabbit I haven't gotton enough $ for those I will have to ask Mom
  22. Top grade stuff can usually be traced back(a bit harder with hammered as they are still coming out of the ground).I still like the pleasing eye appeal.I still have loads of Liz 11 copper in tubes and bought 40 1959 Scottish 1/-.Sometimes I can't resist....amongst 20 1720 farthings.Buy what you like.
  23. I've got 2 endowments.1 just got paid out £30k against £34k the other is absolute rubbish.I had a quote for £10.8k when it was meant to give me £24k in 2016. Insurance, endowments, pensions,Financial advisers are now history.
