    Tissue Test

I saw this magnet tester for gold and silver. The video is interesting. If you want one the 2nd link is much cheaper. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gold-Silver-Coin-Testing-Neodymium-Magnet-Eagle-Dollar-Maple-Leaf-Krugerrand-/300833385430?pt=UK_Coins_Supplies_RL&hash=item460b112bd6 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221162659737?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

  3. Ouch. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNKNOWN-1792-I-D-DATED-YELLOW-COIN-/261136141003?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=ZXtscHMgklN9SD2f3cmiCqImrsI%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  4. But still some interesting date combos left. Next year, for example, we've got 11/12/13 02/02/2020 is a perfect palindrome ~ the converse of 20/02/2002 ....to name but two..... Incidentally, next year is the first since 1987, not to have at least 2 digits the same. That only works if you subscribe to the appalling computer-driven modern tyranny of having to place a zero in front of a single-digit day or month. Something I resolutely refuse to do, and if I'm filling in a form with boxes for the date, I just leave the first box empty without putting their horrid horrid zero in it. Mind you, there will be some interesting genuine palindromes yet to come - 31/1/13 is the next one! Don't you mean 31/01/13

  23. I was popping on and off and estimates for anything decent were wiped with the open gam.bits
  24. Uh, more than one. It's the second this year, hence the reduced coin activity of late. I'm a bloke and thus can't multitask which is probably a good thing given the prices at Spink today. I was informed today during the course of the sale thatby working on the house I was in the right place, as attending the sale or bidding online would have been very depressing and/or impoverishing. £165K for the Mary ryal, £36K each for the R3 angel and Briot unite, £6K for the Harold 2 Chichester penny, £18K for the Alfred penny with legend around the bust. Big numbers for the special pieces, though the average bits were eminently affordable. Yikes My Spink is a couple of years old but the top price for ryal is £62.5k !!!! At those prices I would hide yourself down at Wickes.... I wonder what DNW is going to do today?
