  1. I was just looking at the 1893 3 over 2 Gouby BP1893B to try and learn what to look out for concerning the 1903 3 over 2 and I can't really see anything obvious concerning an underlying 2. Surely somebody would of come across something by now?
  2. If it's not too much trouble I would be interested to see any information. I appreciate that thank you very much. Did V R Court or A R Alexander write/publish any books? I will have a look see if I can find anything. That would be my single biggest purchse at £40 for the folder to obtain the BP1890Aa. Having already checked the 1881 H in the folder is not a 9+M Im not sure many other nice surprises could be found within. The reason I'm asking is because Im going by the example sold at LCA for £60 and I dont know if this value for that grade is high or low for the type I'm assuming high. As I say I have been searching for one for a while now without any success. Although I have not looked for an attributed example. Many thanks
  3. Yes it would be rather interesting to know how it was calculated. I'm really sorry to hear that. I just posted to a post without looking at the date talking about the 1915 recessed ear which I beleive Mike Hopkins started and Paddy informed of his passing. RIP @1949threepence thanks.
  4. In another post on this forum I found the following information; 1903 open 3 37,300 1908 F164a 55,550 1909 F169 23,200 1911 Gouby X 188,000 1926 ME 107,750 1946 dot 384,200 In which book or source of information could I find these figures for all types if it even exists? Thanks
  5. Penny 1890 with low 90 in date, 14 teeth date spacing, Gouby BP1890Aa VG/Near Fine, Rare I have seen this variety described as rare and or scarce. I found one BP1890Aa inside a lot as part of a whitman folder. I messaged the seller to ask for Obverse/Reverse images of the 1881 H from the folder to check to see if its a 9+M which obviously it wasnt.. I cant decide if the asking price for the folder is a resonable price given the only coin of interest in the folder is the BP1890Aa. I saw one low grade example of the BP1890Aa sold at LCA for £60. The seller is asking £40 for the album. How rare or scarce is the BP1890Aa please ? I have been searching for one for a while now without any luck.
  6. I'm really sorry to hear that. RIP @1949threepence Once I receive the coins I will share images yes. Obviously the recessed ears stick out with the broken tooth and cant mistake the open 3. I wasnt sure afterall on the 1911 Gouby X, it looks good to me I have attached an image.
  7. Today I found and purchased three 1915 recessed ear coins and one 1903 open 3. To find the three I looked at probably 50 odd coins. And one 1911 Gouby X
  8. "Where does it end" you tell me? 😂 Think it's my turn to be out on this one.
  9. When I spotted that F90 1877 narrow date I totally lost it 🤣
  10. Although I have drawn in red the bottom loop stopping at 6 o'clock, the image to left actually looks like it curls up and round.
  11. The image I have attached shows the position and size versus an actual example. The bottom image of the actual 63 Die 5 you can see the loop of the 5 curls right up and round.
  12. When comparing to other examples the number is smaller and wrong position.
  13. This one aswell. Obviously the number is the wrong size also wrong position.
  14. I have sinced found a few other coins with a ghostly H including another 1875. If you look at the attached image there is an 8 a C and also some guys face in the circle with long hair and a pointy nose any ideas who it is?
  15. Thanks I did have a look, I just found this coin. Its hard to say with the image quality what actually is there could be anything. In my image the coin on the left is from LCA and the coin on the right is the one I just found, I drew some lines to show the position roughly. I also added an image of the coin seperately. its 0.99 buy it now plus shipping. I know the lines I have drawn are not perfect but it doesnt quite match up with the example on the left.
  16. Good work ! I'm having trouble finding the 1946 ONE'. Although I spend alot more time searching for other types.
  17. Thanks, the amount of time i have spent lookng for the more common coins I'm starting to think will be easier to find and buy coins which are attributed. Im lucky so far most of the coins I have found are types I could never afford.
  18. Thats the arrow highlighting the location of the H Thats's what caught my eye when I purchased it, then I noticed what I thought was a H. You are not alone its currently 50/50 split decision. Thanks
  19. Currently it's a split decision. An equal amount of people say they see a H and the same amount say no H. Respectively the opinion of the members here I value to be of higher credence however I will remain on the fence until I have completed my search for an identifiable die characteristic unique to Heaton coins. If nothing else it's a great learning experience for me and a good reason to learn to look closely at details, going forward I will need those skills. I have spent a good few hours and found some differences between F82 and F85 on some coins, each time I find a consistant different detail I then find a coin in between the two or find an example which proves the theory incorrect. Part of my issue when trying to corroborate apparent differences is the inconsistant grade and or photos of different coins I'm looking at. If I had 20 uncirculated F82s and 20 F85s with photos taken under the same conditions would probably be more decisive. It's a challenge out of interest rather than simply going against opinion. Up until now I have only been studying the reverse, I will check the obverse to see if I can find any consistant differences between Heaton and London die pairings for 8+J This coin was not purchased as F85 and it was purchased cheap, already the purchase has provided me with hours of interest and learning about grade and scrutinizing details.
  20. Thanks, I dont have a clue what I'm talking about hence me posting here about it. One thought I had if the 5 is manually added or punched would that account for variation in the position of the 5. Please see the following image.
  21. @PWA 1967 7 Vs 1 currently, I'm not sure myself, seems logical to favour the popular opinion😃 Thats why I love types like F90 Peter, clear as day.
