  1. I'm surprised - I find that 1887, 1889-1892 are by far the most common buns even in high grade.
  2. Very nearly EF in my opinion
  3. what did the lot with my rare pattern variety in go for?
  4. this is a test reply to your test
  5. Can't see any difference whatever!
  6. test No, that isn't the case for me. I have ALWAYS used 'choose file' and never drag and drop, but haven't been able to attach a picture for months. I still think it's a case of how many attachments you've ever uploaded which is why newer members can attach while long time members can't.
  7. It's just copy and paste, nothing more complicated than that.
  8. I'm not sure where you're getting the overstamped idea from? The reverse looks normal apart from what looks like Vic's mouth chin and neck appearing just to the left of the shield, probably caused the same way 'ghosting' occurs on many 1st issue George V coins, especially pennies halfpennies shillings and sixpences.
  9. I had a post about the rare 1887 6d I own, but I'm not being able to post it, not even as a private convo message. Not sure what it is about the post that's causing the problem...
  10. Same for me - all other pictures however are there.
  11. oh, but this I can???
  12. as per thread title
  13. Anyone got a link to the catalogue? I'm not a member of Sovereign Rarities.
  14. I think the silver content and weight will check out as good? From what I can gather, this particular coin is rather like the Maria Theresa thaler which is still minted - not for any fraudulent reason, but because it's both a very desirable coin in its own right, but also because it's still used in some places!
  15. It all looks fine to me.
  16. The bottom one could be a fairly modern repro? Apparently there are many of this particular denomination.
  17. I wonder at the terms "extremely" "very" and "excessively" used for rarity. Were these simply hype words (like "BU Gem" used by so many dealers) or are they based on known facts? It's interesting that the 1960 silver crown ("very rare") was offered at a significantly cheaper price than the other two, one being the long known 'sandblasted' 1953 crown.
  18. @DaveG38 *is* David Groom!
  19. They are pretty scarce - much of the low mintage was probably never issued.
  20. looks as if it's been retooled, possibly?
  21. What a shame - I've ordered an Annulet from Peeter Nichols, who are now closing down. I would have been interested in another Mascle (still waiting for the Annulet...)
  22. Someone had a theory that people who had made many attachments were the ones who can't post them now, which would explain why those 3 test attachments by a new poster worked.
  23. I agree that there are too many in the period to classify them all. But good on anyone who makes them a special interest.
