  1. Arrived from Spain yesterday. Pleased to say that it is one. 9 1/2 date space and D to a tooth. Far better condition than I was expecting. Via this thread, a population of 7, known or presumed, since 2008. Extremely rare, or only 5 people bothered to look for one. Possibly the latter.😁
  2. If the sellers photos are to be believed, I think I've picked up another one.
  3. Toothed border/beaded border.
  4. Exactly as Martin says. I should have been more concise in response. Apologies.
  5. Reverse E. Similar die fill.
  6. Took a while to locate it. Reverse G. Die fill to the top of the E may be useful in finding another example.
  7. Just got in. Looking for it now.
  8. Hi all. It appears that I'm late to the party and the cleaners are just stacking the chairs and sweeping up. Not much to add really. I would agree with Bernie that mine is an obverse 4 and Martin's a 6. The A pointing in Victoria is different due to rotation. As is the D of D:G: Martin's being extreme. Richard has mentioned the V of Victoria. I think the R of BRITT on mine has been repunched, slightly rotated too. Martin's strongly appears to be an E. Mine, I'm not sure. I can see Jon's reasoning for an E but I've always swayed to an F as Jerry says. Give me an hour or so, and I'll see if I can do some better photos as I think there may be something going on under the B too. Cracking find Martin.
  9. Not in hand yet. Christmas post delays etc. An unfair question I'll admit. Photos when it arrives. Thanks Martin
  10. Thought I'd cropped that. Not going to try an edit. I'm not that brave.😁.
  11. Seasonal greetings etc..... eBay purchase last week, mainly because I thought there may be a P lurking under the F. Paired with a 7. My current example is obvious, as the F has worn away, leaving a definite P. These better grade coins are open to dispute, as not immediately apparent. At £26, I took a chance. Just wondering what others thought.
  12. Do you remember the one that Jon posted. Had that Crown stamped into it. That matches the above coin. No A die crack and a huge crack under chin. Page 18 in this thread.
  13. Looks like Bernie pipped me at the post.😁
  14. There's some photos on page 4 or 5 of this thread Larry. Die crack through the A of Victoria. Had a quick look to see if Dr Nicholson had one in his collection. Couldn't see one but what a collection that was. Don't think he shopped on eBay. Good luck with your coins by the way.
  15. Maundy money started with Charles II back in 1662, when he gave out a four penny, threepenny, twopenny and one penny coin to each individual. So not Elizabeth I. For some reason, I googled it a while back. I'm not intelligent enough to do links and techy stuff but Google is very helpful with this one. Bob.
  16. 1902 halfpenny. Low tide. eBay auction win. £56.
  17. Believe me. It won't. You now have another Master.😁
  18. I agree. I'm a member of a halfpenny group. Very little to no discussion. More a platform to show beautiful coins.(Which is informative in its own right. I'm not knocking it.) Which is a shame really, because there is a wealth of knowledge amongst some of the bigger name members.
  19. Great coin there Paddy. Are you thinking of purchasing? I think that this is the direction that I'm about to travel next. I love the history behind these coins. Contemporary counterfeit halfpenny and farthing families. By Jeff Rock and Others. A study of contemporary counterfeiters and the coins that can be attributed to each individual forger. Something that I've been meaning to purchase for a while now. I've often wondered if this thread would develope to encompass other monarchs. Pleased to see that it has.
