Very little moving up here in the deepest Cotswolds! oh dear... My daughter in law is working in the pub in the next village; double shifts today. I wouldn't let the Pwincess out in her little Peugeot roller-skate, so I took her this morning at 10 in the 4x4 - I was the first car to have made the journey - such fun driving on virgin snow! It's all uphill on the way there, which is easy, but downhill is much hairier. It was just starting to crunch at 6pm when I took her for the evening shift, and picking her up at midnight's going to be VERY slippy. It's all single cars width high hedge lanes. I was supposed to be putting edging strips round a lawn tomorrow, so if (when!) I have to cancel that, that'll be £200 of work I've lost this week to the flippin' weather. But the woods are beautiful, with all the heavy branches down over the road.

Hi Waterbird Sovereigns and Half-sovereigns look identical to each other, so we'll need to know the diameter of your coin - a quick measure with a ruler will do. And we'll need to see a picture of it, of course...

Well it's all about condition, BB, and that picture I put up is more or less the minimum grade likely to appeal to any serious collector, even for a tricky date like 1864. I can't see anything in your pictures that comes close, I'm afraid! Best bet is to start making piles: There may be some expertise here on foreign or decimal stuff, but it's not me, so this is for British predecimal only: 1) Bronze 1937-1967 2) Nickel-brass threepences 1937-1967 3) Cupronickel (silver colour but not silver) 1947-1967 4) Bronze 1902-1936 5) Silver 1920-1946 6) Silver pre-1920 7) Bronze 1860-1901 I did notice a copper farthing in there, so... 8) Copper pre-1860 That's stage one. Stage two is fishing out some scarcer dates, if there are any.
