  1. Yes, prices of stuff are going to go crazy- anyone here seen nice campsite prices? Some are ridiculous! I think velcro prices will rise too, and that's always been a rip off....
  2. We have made full provision for anyone in a chair- my sister has MSA and is chair bound now, and she'll be visiting. Mind you, she has a special vehicle to move her about now. if not, maybe a member on the visit could do a Zoom type thing?
  3. Then you shall have first refusal! Whatever that means...!
  4. I'm just finishing my biggest project, and it's for Marshall the guitar amp people. We have a new recording studio being built at the factory in Bletchley, and, when the Covid business has passed, I have the green light to see if any forum members who are into rock music etc would like me to arrange a meet in the new studio to see the gear, and have a tour of the factory etc.... Anyone interested? Would be nice to put faces to names!
  5. best I could do in ten years...accidental find...
  6. Will the coloured ones be more expensive? If so, I can imagine the likes of marleybob and other Ebay trash buying those big sets of Sharpie pens that have lots of different colours!!
  7. Hmm..saw that....it's tricky - I think the light angle is once again moving the teeth about.....a bit like Ken Dodd's passport photo....
  8. Whaaaat??? And there was me thinking slabbing was a good thing to do and only made money for the coin owner! Brezhnev never told us....
  9. I have often remarked to certain friends how, in the mid-19th century, people from foreign climes must have come to Britain, and been amazed and astounded at the beautiful works of art that were used as normal everyday coinage. Talk about impressing on the world just how strong a position Britain was in in those days....
  10. You'll have to type in 'Coin looks like Jesus'... I've given up- better things to do- I just keep getting '403 forbidden' all the time... Only One Penny Defaced Coin 1918 Faded Face On Front Of Coin Looks Like Jesus on ebay
  11. Maybe he had the time to do this because it was it was Ferrous Beuller's day off.....
  12. And so it begins.....:)
  13. Domain?? Geddit?? My science puns are wasted here....... Or are they?.......( cue sound of punsters sharpening pencils...)
  14. ooh I have a tub of 1966/67's- I must go through them...!
  15. You said 'Value' -------- surely you mean 'Cost'....??
  16. I think Danelaw's hammered river finds are something special.... I've had some finds when hammered....
  17. I've just noticed that the bi-metal one pound coin is slightly magnetic, whereas the two pound coins I've got lying around aren't.... any idea on what in the alloy causes this? Any members here who have magnetic knowledge as their domain? 😉
  18. Well well well- just this second stopped reading that piece and I I had the same thought about the fake 'Kews'.... Hmm...popularising this hobby is great, but it would be nice to get away from the 'Oldest is Best' style of thinking.... maybe posted coins should really be 'notable' so they have a story to tell?
  19. Agreed- I'm miffed that I'm having to wait while two obese acquaintances who haven't ever exercised or eaten proper food go before me. If you look after yourself, you wait longer. If you save money for old age, a care home is £1k a week. If you live like an idiot and p**s it all up the wall, care is free. Immoral. I've also found out that the people in the Vaccine group above me are Danish left-handed Methodist trawler salesmen. You just can't win.
  20. Oh extraordinary!! Pun of the Year so far, Dear Boy!!!!!
  21. I'm reading this thread and thinking "Has someone drugged my tea?"....
  22. I feel that the 1935 is an easy find in BU- it's odd they only toned a few. As for the 'one side only' conundrum- If you were a Mint employee, and had to apply hypo to a bin full of pennies, how would you go about it? You would have an astonishingly heavy bin of shiny pennies to deal with- maybe it was applied to a pile at a time? Two pennies could be closely face-to face and end up being a cross between Obi-Wan and Darth- one of them completely on the Dark Side. Mind you, if two coins were face to face, but one was to one side, there would be the gap between them for the hypo to penetrate the facing sides, whereas when perfectly lined up, the edges would create a seal.....and three in a stack would leave one with both sides shiny....
