Coinery Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Sorry, no link...but, being unfamiliar with LizII coins, can someone tell me whether the hull of the ship looks right for the date? It's obviously weak 'or something', does it look standard/normal to you modern gents?310917105657 Quote
Nordle11 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Looks fine to me.. either just a weak strike, a rubbish photo or a combination of both. The only thing suspicious looking is the missing window on the right of the ship, but it might just be a cause of one of the above. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 310917105657 Looks a bit odd, but like you, it's not a familiar enough series for me to say if it's any more than just a weak strike. Quote
Rob Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Just looks to be weak. Not worth a premium anyway. Quote
Peckris Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 It's probably a wearing die, or else some grease or something got onto the die. I imagine the 1967 dies got quite a fair bit of hammering, though surprisingly you don't see many 1967 'weak strikes'. It's certainly the earlier issue, not the '1968' issue which used the 1956 obverse dies. Quote
scott Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 plus the cleaning cant have helped.and it took me ages to find the 1968 issue, they are quite hard. Quote
