RREGNIER Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Hi ThereI currently have a few items listed on eBay and one of the is causing me to be bombarded with offers left, right and centre.This is a good thing, but I do not have the expertise to accurately grade coins (still a relative novice on the grading of coins).When it comes to Victoria onwards I have seen and experienced a lot to know but pre 1800's copper is a mystery to me.Is anyone able to have a look at this listing and assist me??The item number is 251460732056I have had offers ranging from £30 to £130 so far, but I don't know if that is a fair price for this piece, or wether it has the potential to exceed this as I've not seen one in as high a grade. I am unable to get to my local dealer as he's away on holiday.I do not intend to cancel the listing but any advice on rarity/grade/possible value would be hugely appreciated so I can accurately respond to people???Many thanks in advanceRichard Quote
Nordle11 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Hi Richard,Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you regarding pre 1800 coins but what I can say is that if your highest offer is £130 (and they're willing to offer an upfront price on an auction style sale) then more than likely the realised price will be higher than this, whether it is slightly or vastly, I cannot confirm.Don't despair, however, as there will be some comprehensive advice on it's way I'm sure. It's a bit better than VF and close to gVF, but nowhere near EF as the flattening on the laurels is wear as opposed to a weak strike or die fill. I would take 130.The reverse might be slightly better, but is fuzzy. Even with a tailwind, I would say £150-160 tops. Edited February 28, 2014 by Rob Quote

RREGNIER Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 HiI'm not sure whether you guys are active sellers on eBay or whether it's frowned upon on this site (still very much a newbie).I collect and deal to fund my own collection (as I'm sure many do) and yes, I originally had no intention of ending it and relisting it, but the offer was too good to turn down.I would like to thank all those that have posted a reply and taken the time to offer your expertise.I hope I can become a more active member of the forum, as I love collecting, and finding likeminded individuals to talk to is not easy (especially as the good wife really couldn't care less) and I live in the sticks...As Declan said "That's business!".....
