Gary D Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I have a chance of buying this coin so need a speedy reply. The coin on the left is a 1905 Shilling Obv1, the middle coin is an Obv 2. The one on the right to me look like an unrecorded Obv 2a. Does anybody agree. Quote
DaveG38 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) The photo isn't that definitive for me, but it certainly does look like a 2a obverse. If you do buy it and it is a 2a I'd appreciate confirmation so I can include in edition 2 of my book. Edited June 28, 2013 by DaveG38 Quote
Danz Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Can you point out how to tell the difference. Cheers Dan. Quote
Paulus Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 From David Groom's book, the features that distinguish Obv 2a from both 1 and 2:In BRITT:Straight leg to 'R'Larger gap 'R' to 'I'In EDWARDVS:Tail of 'R' is straightTail of 'R' is shortWide gap 'R' to 'D' Quote
Gary1000 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 On balance when in hand I decided that the coin was a Obv2, well closer to a 2 than a 2a. Quote
