Received my copy of the new 2013 Spink catalogue today. The foreword contains a couple of pieces of interesting information: they are currently compiling information for a new edition of English Silver Coinage since 1649; and the splitting of the decimal section from the catalogue will occur next year.

That will be interesting for Rob (unless he is involved)

And when they split the hammered away we will be getting somewhere. :P

Amen! I was not favoring the 2012 edition and felt many of the milled values to be off. What was your impression of Victorian copper and silver?

As long as they don't sub-divide the hammered section further! We don't want everyone knowing which of the coins within a Spink number cataloging are the rare ones! Heaven forbid!

Does it still have 'no stop after DEI' in S3516?

Just ordered my copy.

My last one was 2010.

A bit of Xmas reading. :)

They could easily sell pre milled, milled and post decimal versions.

Yes. The items within 3516 are unchanged, albeit the prices a little higher.

So we will lose a quarter of the book, for which they will probably reduce the price by £1 :D

Thanks, Nick.

Doesn't quite tally with an email I had from spink's a couple of months back, but hey ho!

Does anyone else think the first groat illustrated under Henry VIII Posthumous isn't Posthumous? It has Lombardic lettering & Lis mintmark (can't distinguish the stops easily - could be saltires, trefoils or saltire crosses?)
