Peckris Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Is it Roman I for 1?I had to take a screenshot then reduce it in size to see it clearly It's a weird one (pun intended). It seems like neither a Roman nor Arabic 1, in fact it looks quite a lot like a capital L. It doesn't look as though it was cut deliberately as a Roman 1. But it will be interesting to hear others' thoughts. Quote
Peter Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Looks like a Roman 1 maybe a wearing die. Quote
Coinery Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Something not quite right about it for me! Is this something we're going to get a decent image of? Quote
azda Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 Something not quite right about it for me! Is this something we're going to get a decent image of? Possibly Stuart, contemplating at the moment as i'm not a fan of Gold or Gold prices but would make an interesting purchase for the bay if it were a Roman digit, it certainly does'nt appear to be an Arabic 1, the bottom serif certainly looks longer than the top serif and as Peck says almost looks like an L, but the top serif is definately elongated to the right making it look like a Roman I Quote
RLC35 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 It is not a clear pic, but it looks like a 1, with another 1 to the right of it. There are some of those 1 next to 1's in the 1861 Pennies. Quote
