TomGoodheart Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 On photography a tripod is your friend too. You only need to concentrate on holding one thing. I'll post a picture of a 1937 2/- piece taken using only a tripod and available light with a very cheap digicam. And here it isVery nice. I shall have to try that. I think the tripod is in the garage (along with a zillion other things!) It has to be easier than steadying the camera on a cardboard box!
Peckris Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Hey, Peck, there's another one of those sneaky extra QUOTES in senumis's reply (above my response) weird! I saw that! Trouble is, I would get an error message every time. Weird is right.
TomGoodheart Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) Well, I've had another go with the camera with slightly better results. Still took ages to get this. Not a shilling, or Charles I, but it shows my technique is improving!Edit. Gosh. I think my dinner plate is even bigger than Daves! Edited August 13, 2012 by TomGoodheart

I must admit that some of the non coin pictures my eldest has produced are superb.

Yes, but unlike Dave's, yours has resized to a very comfortable 39% - his don't resize at all
Peckris Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 *bump* (again!) Just a thought Tom - why not put them on eBay?
TomGoodheart Posted September 22, 2012 Author Posted September 22, 2012 *bump* (again!) Just a thought Tom - why not put them on eBay?I probably will once I get off my arse and take some better photos. In the meantime I thought they can just sit on this thread if anyone here might be interested. I have Monday off so might see if I can remember where I put the tripod!
TomGoodheart Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) As far as I know, they're of virtually no interest to anyone else here, but ... I've listed my Bell mint mark and Crown over Bell coins on ebay. Both unusual mint marks for these particular obv/rev types. 151035668906 151035658996I'm happy to consider offers, so feel free to pm me if you might like to break into the wonderful world of Charles I shilling micro-varieties!!! TomGoodheart Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 YAY! But you do realise, now you've actually sold some, I'm not wasting any more sympathy on you? Sympathy is nice ... but I'd rather have money!Talking of which.. I have two more coins for sale. For those of a ..er, sympathetic nature!! Before I offer them elsewhere .. first Spink 2784 Sharp B1/1 ex Alan Morris.Creased and straightened but a decent enough grade and hard to find this early series. The first photo is a bit contrasty. Rob Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I can't help wondering about 151291722044 which looks like crown on the obverse (I can't see any trace of a tun), but listed as Tun over Crown over Bell on the reverse. A combination of marks would be most unusual, so the question is whether the reverse shows some artefact which appears to be a tun, but isn't. If the obverse had been a clear tun I might have been interested but I need to be convinced of the reverse.
TomGoodheart Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Those museum copies are getting better. I've had years of practice Peter!

I've amended the listing description. See what you think Rob:
Rob Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Trace of a previous die, i.e. one before it was bell marked - so portcullis or even harp. You would need a really good hi res image to sort though. Maybe the rounded bit is the bottom half of an S? The die would not need to be recut in the same orientation as being hand held, the die axis is a lottery.
