davidrj Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 This was listed on Ebay as a "tail only" pennyThe Obverse had obviously been machined out, but Britannia looked a little odd, so I decided to have a punt at £2.50Poor Brittania has been stripped, no wonder Queen Victoria left the stage, obviously "not amused"Any one else got interesting altered coins to share here?David Quote

Red Riley Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 (edited) That's her!Hmmm... interesting. Why is she sitting on what looks like an oversized football, holding a tea tray and a shovel rather awkwardly in her left hand while pointing at something out of shot with her right? All rather enigmatic...I remember seeing a few altered Britannia's for sale over the years. The first had Britannia's shield recut into a swastika, and then there was this which was for sale on e-bay two or three years back;Sorry, the edit function won't let me insert pictures so I'll put it on a new post. scottishmoney Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I saw one on eBay about a year ago that was a combination of a George V penny and a French 10 centimes that had George kissing Marianne that has to be one of the best I have seen in awhile. Quote
