That usually works for me! Quote
azda Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 Thanks Mat, but unfortunately i know what it went for, and losing out on it for 60 bucks is irritating, it was a real nice coin, don't know how long it will be before another comes along in that high grade Quote

It kind of looks like he has been carved out of a rock, cannot see the definition in his hair very clearly.I wouldn’t have bid any more on the sovereign myself, this nicer one sold for £850 this year at London Coins:http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/webcatalogue/128/L1770.JPG Quote

Red Riley Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Thanks Mat, but unfortunately i know what it went for, and losing out on it for 60 bucks is irritating, it was a real nice coin, don't know how long it will be before another comes along in that high gradeBoth of those coins seem to have heavily doctored images. Did you see the original coin, or was it an e-bay auction? Quote

That's way more than a £350 coin IMO ! It's GEF with lustre, not easy to find in that grade at all. Oh well, better luck next time. Quote
1949threepence Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Well, it is nice especially the rev but something just does not sit right with me on Georges head. Did you see the original coin, or was it an e-bay auction?Oh, I'm sure the image has been enhanced, but it still doesn't detract from the fact that is is a fantastic coin in fantastic condition. It looks too good, too crisp, but in the hand, I wouldn't mind betting that it still looks damn good. Quote

azda Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) It was'nt an Ebay coin, it was a dealers auction. A lot of coins look better when scanned, but i think the penny had really good detail all round Edited June 27, 2010 by azda Quote

VickySilver Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Pretty nice strike, esp. the reverse. Bit of contact on Georgie's hair but attractive overall; I should think 400 pounds equivalent might have been slightly high but 460 euros a good price in my book. Love nice 18/19 H & KNs well struck and preserved! Quote
