I would personally grade that VF-GVF, there is a lot of wear on Edwards Hair, and the dark spots greatly detract. I sold a 1903 in almost uncirculated condition for £1325 6 months ago. I think realistically your coin would command £400-£600.

Ok, I will offer you £375 for it based on a visual inspection. I deal so I would expect to sell for between £440-£500. After taking selling fees into consideration that would leave me with an acceptable margin.

I'd be surprised if you found anybody on here that wanted to buy it Eduards, it just doesn't work that way. I would grade it slightly higher than Mat at perhaps NEF based purely on the photos and about £1000 but a coin is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay and I don't want it!

It's got good detail - however there's a spot or two, and also it looks rather reflective as if it had been polished once (though that might be simply the light source). My own is not far off VF but I'm not looking to upgrade except for the right coin at the right price.

I would suggest you put it on eBay : 1903 halfcrowns generally fetch quite a good price there.

Agreed. I think that's eduard's best bet for a higher price.

I'd grade at about NEF, with obverse and reverse being very similar.

Photographs can be deceiving but it looks EF to me, especially the reverse. Is that wear on the beard or perhaps a slightly fuzzy strike?

Thanks azda, I've had it for about 10 months and had given it EF myself. Red, yes I think there is a touch of wear on the beard, also there is a hint of flattening to the ear.

I would grade that as Medium EF, no more no less. If I was selling I would want £1350 for it, or if I had a high street coin shop I guess you would expect to pay up to £1500-1600 for it. As pointed out with the pics, especially with KEVII, a visual inspection would be required to look at Edwards hair properly. From looking at the P and I on the reverse, I am guessing Edwards hair is actually slightly better than how it looks on your pictures.

I would grade the Obverse at EF, like you have already mentioned, there is some friction on the neck, and in the field at the back of the head, but it does not distract from the the grade...at least for me!
