Totally coincidental to Pete's acquisition of an example a few days ago, this morning I dropped of some money for my friend John and he said 'what do you think of this, not a colon to be seen'. Not being au fait with penny varieties, I said I'll do a bit of digging. He thought it should be worth 4-500 which seemed reasonable, but I didn't have a clue. Any way, I am looking to get rid of this for him. Anyone interested, send me a PM and what you would be willing to pay. Grades EF or better. Minimal wear to the tops of the bun strands, right breast and helmet, so not strictly unc.

I agree there is a trace of stop after R and less so G. I can't see a raised lump on G as per Santa's description n the site.

It is nice,  and very comparable with the Noonans example in the last month or so, which hammered at £140, so about £200 all in.

I should possibly have gone for that.

I was hoping, and expecting, it to sell for quite a bit more than that.......although I guess I shouldn't complain as bought it on eBay about 20 years ago for £11, before variety was well known.
