Zo Arms Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I've amassed, over the years, around 300-400 of these commemorative crowns. All types. Silver jubilee, Churchill, etc. Weighed in a load of cu-ni coins a while back. Not overly impressed with the scrap price. Short of doing the same with these, just wonder what everyone else does with them please? Quote
Paddy Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 They are a challenge to shift. You used to be able to get 25p each for them at the PO or Bank, but not sure that works anymore. I see bulk lots of them turn up regularly at local clearance auctions, often diluted with a few other coins (sometimes silver) to sweeten the pill. Really that is just shifting the problem onto somebody else, but at least it gets them out of your life! I have a box full somewhere too. Quote
ozjohn Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Only ever brought the silver proof versions and not many of those either. Quote
Zo Arms Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 Banks do take the old £1 and £2 coins, paid direct into your account. Google seems to think banks won't accept commemoratives. The Post Office will accept for goods and services apparently but I doubt I'd get shot of more than 4 at a time. And it's not something that I'd like to make a career of. Can't remember the last time I bought a stamp.😐. 2 Quote
Zo Arms Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Quick update. Weighed in at EMR as 80/20 Cupro Nickel solids. £4.20 per kilo. 20kg. £84. Quick and simple. Heavy copper, currently £6.08 per kilo, for the bronze. And rolled Ali £1.10, for those interested. Blake. 3 1 Quote
