blakeyboy Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Been a difficult Christmas capped ( I thought ) this morning by finding out my car's turbo needs replacing. Great. Then........got news of Neil Innes dying. This has really knocked me back. I met him four times after his shows- such a lovely lovely man. My first album was History of the Bonzos ..... Anyone else feel kicked in the stomach? 2 Quote
Peckris 2 Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Sad news. Remember the Innes Book Of Records? 😥 Quote
Paddy Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I remember him best on Rutland Weekend Television (I think?). Was "How sweet to be an idiot" one of his? Very funny. So many of our great artists fading away. 1 Quote

Rutland Weekend Television was wonderful. Eric Idle will be pleased about not having to part with any more cash...... 1 Quote
1949threepence Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 They played "I'm the urban spaceman" on local radio this morning, as a tribute to Neil Innes. What a great song. Love that bit at the end - #here comes the twist, I don't exist". Pure magic. 2 Quote
secret santa Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 The Ruttles - a masterpiece - every song sounded like a genuine Lennon-McCartney composition. So clever............... 2 Quote
blakeyboy Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 many friends think 'I must be in love' is a better song than the original.... Quote
