copper123 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 The song itself is obviously writen by townshend about roger and you can almost feel the love-hate relationship they had at the time , fights and squables onstage marred many concerts in the 1973- 1976 period in fact it was a real surprise they stayed together at all Quote
bagerap Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 My mate Gabbie Connelly was the bass player before they made it. He married Jackie and she persuaded him that becoming a milkman had better long term prospects. The Daily Mirror did a centre page spread on him around 20 years ago. Quote

The Detours were Roger and John Entwistle, and later they persuaded Pete Townshend to join as guitarist. The drummer was Doug Sandom, and there was a temporary vocalist before Roger abandoned guitar and took up vocal duties. Later they sacked Doug, recruited Moonie, changed their name to The Who and the rest is history. There's never been a Gabbie Connelly. Don't kid a Who fan! 1 Quote
