mrbadexample Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) I've been looking for a better 1915 halfpenny for a while now, as my current one leaves a little to be desired: But they're not easy to come by in good grades. The weekend before last I found one, although the photo wasn't great. The seller had a few more, so I bought a few to save on postage. Edited February 17, 2016 by mrbadexample Quote
mrbadexample Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 This is what I received in the post this morning: 1 Quote
mrbadexample Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 I paid: 1911 (£18), 1915 (£15), 1920 (£17), 1929 (£7) and 1935 (£6). £4 postage. I was surprised that there weren't more bidders - I didn't have to fight very hard for them at all. The 1915, 1929, 1935 all went for the opening price. The 1911 had one other bid, and the 1920 had 5 apart from mine. This is probably the best result I've ever had from ebay. They all appear to be completely uncirculated with almost full mint lustre. I don't think they've been cleaned - just good honest coins. 1 Quote
IanB Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Congratulation on your haul. i may have to start looking at the half pennies myself in the future. Quote

mrbadexample Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 I'm finding it quite difficult to get a decent photo. They're too shiny. Quote
PWA 1967 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 What the bright picture has done Jon is shown that tiny dot on the breastplate of the reverse. Do me a favour and flick it off ...........its bugging me Quote

If they are too shiny then they have probably been cleaned. Natural lustre uncirculated coins are only ever likely to have brilliant fields and even that isn't always the case. Quote
mrbadexample Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Nah, I'm just a lousy photographer. I'll try again tomorrow in natural light. I'm as sure as I can be that they've not been cleaned. Quote
