jelida Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I'm not sure I'd attempt a positive id on either of the last two objects from the pics, really not enough evidence as to function; in fact I don't think either would have got beyond my scrap metal bucket (surprising how much I get from the scrappie every few years). Here are a couple of my Roman Fibulae over the last couple of years. 1 Quote

Paulus Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Your 'hit rate' seems amazing to me George3, are you posting these as you discover them? Also amazed at how you seem to be able to identify them, are you sure this isn't an ancient Aztec fire alarm? Quote
George111 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 No these are all finds I've had since I started about 2 years ago I use a good finds web site with a huge data base and look each find up till I find what they are or similar matching object, could of been a nipple guard Quote

Try using a ruler or coin in the photo to give an idea of scale. First impression is that its a bit too small for a terret, they are usually a couple of inches in diameter, and it looks like it was held on to something fairly thin like leather. Jerry Quote
George111 Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 I'm sure it was "rivited" to leather and the loop is about the size of a modern 1p Quote
