I recently acquired this Charles I sixpence. It was sold as a coin of the Dovey Furnace mint (i.e. Spink 2910 !!), but as it lacks the Aberystwyth plumes, and given the price I got it at, I assume it is a Tower mint coin. The obverse bust looks similar to Sharp E5/2 for the shillings...the "neat Aberystwyth bust"; the crown mintmark is different to that which I've seen before for the Tower mint coinage - anyone got any ideas ? Thanks for looking !
I see the Royal Mint is doing a Christmas Sixpence are they worth going for to add to my sixpence collection, or to be avoided. I see they also did one in 2016 which was limited to 5000 and have sold out now. There is no mention of a limited amount for this year though. I may just get one just to see what there like in hand.
Hi all, Would appreciate a few experienced opinions on this rather nice 1731 sixpence before I purchase (grade etc) , described as AEF but ive been caught out before with over graded coins. Sorry this is my second post with almost exactly the same wording just a different coin, this is the last one I promise Thanks in advance, C44 upload pic
Hi all, Thinking about purchasing this coin which the seller describes as AEF - Id just like to ask people on here their opinions on the grade because ive been caught out before with over graded coins. Opinions on toning etc much appreciated also, seems to be quite a dark tone on this coin. Thanks, c44
