BP 1860 Jk - Obv R over R in BRITT I came across this 1860 with a lovely error ....in truth there are many errors but the RRR is the nicest part ....she sadly has been cleaned but I am not too worried

I thought you would have found my half penny more amusing....I feel sorry for us half penny collectors we lack the lustre of the spend a penny guys -
what yeah is this ?

yeah unless there is a good reason to pick up an F ( only if the lower limb was in good order) I cannot see why an E would not be just an E over an E. In the half penny overstamps it happens all the time. Usually the lower limb blocks and all that remains is something like an F ...then they overstamp with an E . I have listed many on the half penny thread . Larry I think it is listed as an F over an E because it sound more erroneous and therefore they think it is worth more

Here is the B over R I have I think it is possible that the error has occurred twice , Because mine is a reuse of the stumpy tailed R , the continuation can be seen beyond the B and of course in side. |I have seen also on London coins an B over R where the tail is the pointed R . So it may be that two types exist . The overstrike and repair seems to damage the die and the following die flaw may be a the B over R die which now breaks . This is of course a theory. on the reverse the 2 is doubled and the six a small 6 repair -
You guys work hard on your collecting and observation my hat off to you all.

certainly looks like a very weak strike maybe the die is partially filled. I have seen very thin dates and legend when the surface of the coin has been chemically altered underground but it isn't that .
