  1. He now has relisted the lot for £100 He's added more info about them and he even has some with the word KEW on them but he doesn't know what that means!! If any of you would like to take up his offer of "a bag of coins" go on gumtree and search for "2000 coins"
  2. Given his attitude i wouldn't even buy them for half of his asking price now !!
  3. Well I asked the seller if I can go and take a look. His reply: It's £75 for the coins bagged ready to be collected or dropped off. If I wish to browse and kick the tyres so to speak they he is happy to leave it. Needless to say I wished him good luck with his sale of £75 for a bag of who knows what !!
  4. That's what I can't tell from the photos. If they are I will just walk away
  5. Someone selling a bulk lot of coins local to me. Described as 2000 coins 15kg approx mainly English from 1807 onwards. Photos are poor but appears to include about 300 pennies and the same half pennies. He's asking £75 for the lot Is that a reasonable price? I plan to go and look at them so any tips on what I should look out for Thanks
  6. Thanks Peter I will get a couple of those then. Can't go wrong at that price
  7. I would like to buy one to take to the next fair I go to . I have seen one for sale that is 40x25mm with led light. Would this be suitable? Thanks
  8. I think a lot depends.on what they are and how much you are asking for them. I listed around a dozen on here and 4 sold very quickly most likely because the buyer was collecting the "theme" Chris (forum owner) has a Facebook group dedicated to decimal where you could try or preloved or gumtree (that's where I sold the rest of mine)
  9. A few more dealers/sellers should take a leaf out of your book. At least I know what to expect if I buy from you.
  10. Yes but which one is going to look more like the real thing when in my hand? That is the big question for me. And for the record your photos are a good representation of the coins on your site
  11. And he also says "take a look at the photographs and see for yourself" Not quite the same as the photos Nordle posted As you may know I am a beginner and I did not know this until around a week ago (thanks to this forum ) Both books I have that came recommended to me, CCGB and David Groom Bronze Coinage do not mention that the '34 is a mint toned coin. (I will be getting the new Freeman book when it is out) I am not knocking the seller whatsoever. They have a fantastic feedback rating of 100%. My gripe is regarding photos in general and the "cover all" statements of "look for yourself" etc. that is very common on most ebay auctions. If you are selling a coin at least show a decent photo that resemble the actual colour/tone, call it what you will, of coin for sale. I know a little about photography (I am no expert by any means) but at least my own photos look like the coins I have. Read up about things like lighting and white balance to suit the lighting you have etc etc. As an example take a look at the Copthorne Collection photos on Colin Cooke site and then take a look at the Vendors photos on his site.
  12. You will have to put in a good bid though Jon if you want it. I'm thinking of putting a tenner for that 1967
  13. Slowly going through them making a short list. Will be leaving the rare ones for you lot
  14. Thanks Pete Never took part on this type of auction before so wanted to be sure
  15. On the subject of bids does it work along the lines of eBay ie Low reserve is say £200 . Lot has no bids so I put down £250. Lot stays at £200 until another bidder joins in and beats my £250?
  16. I have said before its all well and good when a seller says look at the photos and judge for yourself . At least show a photo that resembles the tone/colour of the coin. I have viewed many of this sellers coins and yet to make a purchase but having seen this will have to think twice now.
  17. Welcome back
  18. I have compared both sets of photos for the lots I am interested in and they are all different.
  19. I can now access via wifi so seems sorted for me now
  20. Same now happening to me with same message as above Can't access via wifi only via 4G on my mobile
  21. Hi Dave Same thing here although I am tending to move away from evilbay and buy from dealers that have been recommended to me. You may pay a little more but you tend to get what you pay for regarding grades etc I have a spare 1901 if thats of interest as I have just upgraded mine. Jon
  22. Any news when the auction is due to take place? Don't want to go to the May 8th Midlands fair and spend all my money there and then find out this takes place a day or so after.
  23. I will look forward to this. In the market now to add to my penny collection but only want "common" ones just yet. Will be leaving the rare ones for you lot
  24. I did wonder if that was the case. Thanks for explaining
