  1. And 1913 (would this not pre-date the theory that brass shell casings were added to the mix?):
  2. PM sent cheers Pete.
  3. Anyway, shouldn't you be rummaging through your spares to find something nice for me? I've got very little pre-1900.
  4. I'm picky when I'm spending £250 on a coin. I'm less picky with stuff I pick up free. And that 1915 ½d? I've got worse....at least it was flat.
  5. Hmmm, nice reverse but there are quite a few contact marks on the obverse. I don't know that it's significantly better than the ebay one. It'll be interesting to see how much it goes for. Thanks for looking though - there's another auction site I didn't know existed.
  6. Thanks Paulus, that does help. I like yours. I think I might have to sit on my hands for a while and search outside ebay.
  7. I can't stretch the budget that far unfortunately, so I've resorted to ebay for the 2d. I'm too damned impatient to wait once I decide I want something, so just the 1d required now. I expect Pete'll be along shortly to offer me one of his spare mint-with-full-lustre for about £30 post included.
  8. Evenin' morning all. I want a wreath crown. No, I need a wreath crown. Even if it's the only one I ever get, I need an example. So, I was looking at the 1927, as they have the highest mintage and were proofs so I should be able to get a decent one. I've seen this one on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1927-WREATH-CROWN-GEORGE-V-BRITISH-SILVER-PROOF-COIN-SUPERB-/262204017546?hash=item3d0c93cb8a:g:tvcAAOSw5IJWeWcO which seems ok but as it's a few quid I thought I'd seek advice here first. Firstly, is the price reasonable? I don't have an up to date price guide at the moment. Secondly, does it look ok? There's a bit of a ding on the rim of the crown plus a couple of small marks on the obverse but apart from that seems reasonable. What do you think? Cheers, MBE
  9. Jeez, did you read his description? "...a nice example, devoid of the usual rim knocks." That's damn near word for word what I asked for.
  10. Hi all, Bit out of my chosen area of post 1860, but I really like the cartwheel coins. I've got one of each but in pretty low grade so I'm looking to upgrade. Not looking for slab quality, just a nice example devoid of the usual edge knocks if possible. Can any of you help me out? Cheers, MBE
  11. Yeah, just grumblin'.
  12. I'm newer than 'im!
  13. Think he was hoping for the blind or mentally impaired. Or the blind and mentally impaired.
  14. Oh, I didn't notice the postage. That's me out then.
  15. A nice penny for Pete. Cheap too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-coin-Georgius-V-1911-One-penny-Year-of-the-coronation-/161973674727?hash=item25b66222e7:g:~dEAAOSwIwhWRxlq
  16. It's the rarer large 3 variety too!
  17. Nah, I'm just a lousy photographer. I'll try again tomorrow in natural light. I'm as sure as I can be that they've not been cleaned.
  18. Done. It wasn't stuck or anything.
  19. I'm finding it quite difficult to get a decent photo. They're too shiny.
  20. No, no. Nothing to see here!
  21. It's been getting on my nerves for years, honestly. I'm not even entirely sure it's better than looking at a gap.
  22. I paid: 1911 (£18), 1915 (£15), 1920 (£17), 1929 (£7) and 1935 (£6). £4 postage. I was surprised that there weren't more bidders - I didn't have to fight very hard for them at all. The 1915, 1929, 1935 all went for the opening price. The 1911 had one other bid, and the 1920 had 5 apart from mine. This is probably the best result I've ever had from ebay. They all appear to be completely uncirculated with almost full mint lustre. I don't think they've been cleaned - just good honest coins.
  23. This is what I received in the post this morning:
