  1. Why did they get them at face value? Surely it was you that made the decision to sell at that price?
  2. Afternoon all, I feel like I'm getting close with my Olympic 50p collection, so thought it might be time to ask for some help. I still need 5: aquatics, athletics, badminton, basketball, shooting, triathlon, weightlifting & wrestling. If anyone has any of these lying about that they'd let me have for 50p each then I'd be delighted. I can't bring myself to pay more than 50p for a 50p, although I will happily swap if I've got something you might want, although that's unlikely. I've got a nice squirrel if that helps. Cheers, MBE

  4. Unable to delete duplicate post, sorry.
  5. Hardly worth the bother. I report most things I see on here but they never disappear. ebay don't care what it is, only that it sells and they make money.
  6. The unslabbed one certainly doesn't look the same as the slabbed one.
  7. I found it interesting that Bramah also notes the design was originally intended for a cartwheel halfpence, hence the curved base.
  8. Here we go then. All happy with F20?
  9. You might be right Paddy but we do also like a challenge!
  10. Amazing how one person accumulates so many rare errors. He needs a bloody good slap to be honest. The fact that he's managed to get some slabbed is astonishing, and really doesn't look good for LCGS.
  11. No pitting, just marks like something's evaporated from the surface, like water marks on your shower screen for want of a better analogy.
  12. 5 incuse gunports, P1248. I couldn't help humming the Captain Pugwash tune while I sorted the photo out. Incidentally, what do you make of the mottled surface? The coin has a few oily colours and I wondered if it had been dipped in a solvent of some sort (petrol?). It's a shame because it's a good 'un apart from that.
  13. It'll probably be Monday before I see this thing. Postie will attempt delivery tomorrow, I will be out, he will take it back to the post office etc...
  14. Iffy? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1931-Wreath-Crown-Silver-George-V-4056-Minted/183057454461?hash=item2a9f13157d:g:HzMAAOSwxOFaeK2j
  15. I did think about getting it slabbed for comedy value.
  16. The above picture shows the blank area bottom middle of the bust much better than the one on Richard's site. Much more convincing!
  17. It is fun, and of enormous value to this rookie. Better photos will surely help, which I hope to be able to provide tomorrow. I am expecting F20 as the most likely.
  18. I can’t re-examine it or take more photos unfortunately - it was one I rejected as it had too many marks. For it to be die clash though, does it not have to correspond in some way with part of the opposing design, like on the penny above?
  19. I won’t mind if it’s F20. This has been an excellent learning experience for me.
  20. Thanks Bernie. Can you tell me what characteristics make you think obverse 2 please?
  21. But you can see the marks from the reeded edge of another coin where they’ve come together. I don’t see how else these marks are caused? This was always my understanding of a bag mark, but I’m happy to be re-educated if I’ve misunderstood.
  22. Looks ex-mount to me. The third picture looks particularly damning.
  23. Not as I understand it VS. These are marks from die clashing - all the marks that can be seen are attributable to the folds in Britannia's drapery etc. transferred from the reverse. Bag marks are simply impact damage from another coin. I also think the mark on the 1912 half crown is a bag mark, albeit a pretty heavy one.
