  1. It's our own fault. If we refused to use the ones that charge then they'd not bother making any more. I've never paid to get my own money out, and nor will I.
  2. I'm from Yorkshire. I'd be the one picking them up.
  3. Regardless of what cards may have been in my pocket, I would have told them that I had no other means of payment. Frankly, that's ridiculous.
  4. I did wonder who was getting carried away with that one, given the £400-500 estimate. Obviously the significance escaped me.
  5. I think that's the point. It's driving a market.
  6. I used to like our coinage. Not so much any more though. Once some thought went into what subject was worthy of a commemorative issue. Now it's all about what people will gush over and rush out to buy in its many differently minted forms.
  7. It's a teeny tiny minting defect with no significance whatsoever. It's still worth exactly £2, sorry.
  8. It's good. Decent edges too, which is often a problem with these due to the weight - it only needs to be dropped once. The large size is due to the coin being made from 2d worth of copper - 2oz.
  9. Just another way to mask a seller’s history so you can’t see if they’ve been flogging fakes.
  10. I've seen on another forum where UK customs opened a packet to leave a scarce ½ dam like this:
  11. As soon as you add colour to a coin it ceases to be anything approaching my cup of tea.
  12. That 1917’s a really weak strike which may be misleading when it comes to grading.
  13. I’d grade the coin according to the level of wear, regardless of how it happened. Whether it’s from poor storage or circulation is irrelevant to me.
  14. Well it was a bit tongue in cheek but I’d happily work my way through them. I wouldn’t pay for them though.
  15. I have to have mine in Windows “Classic” mode or I can’t cope.
  16. Give them to me. I’ll do it. 🙂
  17. After countless prompts I eventually "updated" to Windows 10. I put it back to Windows 7 after about 10 minutes.
  18. I don't know how you could bear to part with that.
  19. I've only opened one, but wrapping it in a tea towel to protect your hands and twisting it breaks it open quite nicely.
  20. Don't buy them then.
  21. Personally I think it's just poor quality rather than an error. If I wanted one at all I'd rather have an unflawed one. I could be wrong but suspect this post is just a plug for your ebay listing?
  22. Are you suggesting that one's fake too?
  23. I don't see anything that concerns me, although I don't think it's a particularly good comparison due to the very different degrees of wear.
