Interesting piece, a 1735 Geo III halfpenny. Apart from the anachronistic date, it's a very thin flan, 28.5 mm, 6.3 gr.

Their reaction for on line auction sales was to ask for the ebay or equivalent link, proof of my original purchase (I've had some of this stuff for over 50 years) and try to pay me my opening bid price. i.e. 0.99p My actual financial recompense from the £835, has so far been £312, so it looks like these *&^%£$" are costing me £100 p.a.

Just before and after Uni I spent a few years in the Pinewood sound department. On The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, there was a busy (and expensive) street scene shot on a permanent set at Shepperton. Dozens of vintage vehicles were used, many with age appropriate signage. One van said Mackie & Son Bagpipe Makes. I pointed out that it should be Makers and received the reasonable answer that if the audience noticed that, then they weren't much interested in the picture anyway.

This has made me laugh longer and harder than anything i can remember this year, and I can't explain why.

Recently trawling through ebay I spotted something described as a Brussels exhibition medal. These are my bread and butter and with only a few minutes to go I put in a reasonable bid, considering that I didn't recognise it and had no time to research. Happily I got it for a few quid and it arrived today. Took a bit of research but it turns out to be a rareish 1874 Belgian masonic medal worth around £100.
