  1. Thanks Paddy. I think I'll give this a whirl on ebay as I have a cheap commission rate tonight.
  2. Thank you. Is this recorded or catalogued anywhere?
  3. Interesting piece, a 1735 Geo III halfpenny. Apart from the anachronistic date, it's a very thin flan, 28.5 mm, 6.3 gr.
  4. Just giving this a bump on the off chance that someone can ID it
  5. My Man. From the 60s to the 20s'. This is, was, and always will be my music. Bam Bam me man. R.I.P.
  6. Have a look at his sold listings* and you might think that it's worth buying shares in Brasso! * Sunglasses advised.
  7. It is BHM 810 and the image in Brown's book is without a hole.
  8. I've got some racing geese for sale. Let me know if you want a quick gander.
  9. Back in the 60s, I was a "Saturday Boy" at Jim Marshall's shop in Hanwell Broadway. Once or twice we'd be sent out to watch over our hired amps at a gig, if the band was known to be clumsy.
  10. "At the end of the day, it is insured, so nobody loses out." Really? Over the last five years Royal Mail and their overseas confederates have lost somewhere in the region of £835 of my tracked/signed goods. Their reaction for on line auction sales was to ask for the ebay or equivalent link, proof of my original purchase (I've had some of this stuff for over 50 years) and try to pay me my opening bid price. i.e. 0.99p My actual financial recompense from the £835, has so far been £312, so it looks like these *&^%£$" are costing me £100 p.a.
  11. I've just told my suitcases that there's no chance of us going on holiday this year. Any tips on how to deal with emotional baggage?
  12. Karl Marx is a noted historical figure but no one ever mentions his sister, Onya, who invented the starting pistol.
  13. To quote the great Tom Lehrer in "Bright College Days" Hearts full of truth, hearts full of youth. Six parts of gin to one of vermouth."
  14. Compared to the cost of reshooting the scene, it was reasonable and Michael Roo's response seems to indicate that it was lost in the edit.
  15. Just before and after Uni I spent a few years in the Pinewood sound department. On The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, there was a busy (and expensive) street scene shot on a permanent set at Shepperton. Dozens of vintage vehicles were used, many with age appropriate signage. One van said Mackie & Son Bagpipe Makes. I pointed out that it should be Makers and received the reasonable answer that if the audience noticed that, then they weren't much interested in the picture anyway.
  16. This has made me laugh longer and harder than anything i can remember this year, and I can't explain why.
  17. I'm fat but I self identify as slim. I'm translender.
  18. It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes an entire vineyard to home school one.
  19. I appear to be on a roll, but this time I had a better idea of what I was buying. A So Called Dollar from the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exhibition. Under a fiver, happy days. Hastily grabbed phone picture, but this American seller's image gives you a better idea. https://www.ebay.com/c/170373125
  20. Recently trawling through ebay I spotted something described as a Brussels exhibition medal. These are my bread and butter and with only a few minutes to go I put in a reasonable bid, considering that I didn't recognise it and had no time to research. Happily I got it for a few quid and it arrived today. Took a bit of research but it turns out to be a rareish 1874 Belgian masonic medal worth around £100.
