  1. Pretty little coin that, Nick, I do love the small stuff very much!
  2. All the very best to all for 2015! May your days be merry, and your light bright!
  3. Couldn't agree more, regardless of denomination or year ... But it's what they go for! Is it any different to a two-pronged trident?I do confess it's not for me, unless I was close to gathering the whole series of something, and a particular coin got added into an addenda or revised edition of a book, or similar, as a definite type? But this wouldn't happen to me, as I have an interest in too many areas...fortunately!
  4. Pennies? The moment it's catalogued, and only 3 are known exist, and it's proven (either way) to be hitherto a common feature or, ideally, uncommon feature?
  5. Yes, indeed. An altered date, just for fun. The other coins are genuine though! I have a few more to add but been rather busy of late. Happy New Year, AC!
  6. King Edwards are the best potatoes!
  7. I haven't seen a confirmed fake Anne, either! Though we did have a long discussion on here a while ago about an Anne Crown (I think) - hair detail was the discussion point! can't remember who posted the coin?
  8. I got some of those too! Decent milled edge on mine, can hardly get into the buggers without taking my nails off!
  9. linkhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271715533653?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D271715533653%26_rdc%3D1 Thanks for the link If you enlarge the obverse, it looks like someone has punched her in the mouth and knocked out all her teeth! And carved her a new profile/nose, and cut her a 'neat' new eye! Tis Boxing Day, after all!
  10. We use olive oil...sunflower is perfectly good! No point in giving yourself a coronary for the sake of a humble spud? Save a goose, why not?
  11. Couple of whole cloves of garlic, a sprig of rosemary, and a good grate of salt and pepper!
  12. Brilliant! 'VF with original raised details' 271715533653 Is that instead of a knackered, tooled, piece of...? Leave it to your imagination! I can't believe Saxby has sold so many coins!
  13. Presumably Santa has difficulty getting down the chimney on a barge? And certainly struggled to find a place to hide things. We have TWO chimneys, but I'll grant you they're a bit of a squeeze for the big fella!
  14. Anyone beat 03:50 for a Christmas Day start? Oh, man, kids!
  15. Ah, the only privilege I have from being brassic is that my eBay searches only cover E1 (general) & J1/C1 farthings! Takes about two minutes!
  16. Brilliant! Just said to my wife 'remind me to read you something lovely about the trenches,' as she was watching a film with the lad! Amazing thing is, she knew exactly what I meant when I said 'trenches'! Not a place where builders repair roads, not a ditch at the side of a road...amazing that after more than a 100 years the term still means the same to everyone!Lovely story, thank-you! Here's to nations re-joined! Just peace to bring upon the whole world to go! Merry Christmas!
  17. Do your best, mate! Sending you and your family every blessing at this time. I've fortunately only ever worked in a hospital at Christmas, never been admitted to one.Take it steady out there, Dave, will have a thought for your lad tomorrow morning! X
  18. All the very best to you and all! I wholeheartedly agree with you re the educational benefit of this forum, some things cannot be learnt in books! Books are great, don't get me wrong, but the dynamic kind of learning you get from sticking a number of heads together is totally awesome! Merry, Smerry, as my son is presently fond of saying! :)
  19. Oh, I'm really glad to see them gathered up in 'handfuls' and neatly stacked in 'piles' upon sheets of acidy old newspaper!
  20. Superb stuff, Colin!
  21. Wow, just listened to the links! What a fabulous voice, I'd say he actually does give Pavorotti a run for his money! Crikey, I've still got goosebumps!
  22. And I wasn't fully conversant with Thatcher's yard without good reason. Now that's very interesting, because your voice reminded me of someone I knew in the South-West...is that your heritage, then, Rob? I remember you saying you routinely called in at the cider farm in Sandford (which is walking distance from where I grew up), but can't recall the link? Work, wasn't it?
  23. Croydon is a great auction for bargains and rarities, but grading is most definitely not their forte!
  24. You didn't sound Mancunian when I spoke to you from the Sainsbury's carpark in Weston-Super-Mare!
