    It's developed into an authoritative website, the best reference site for the farthing! I'd like to see a reference work to go with it, Colin! It can't be far off, the legwork is done!G-numbers, perhaps? Edit: I say this with all due respect to CC, but I like CG's ongoing development. I don't think he should sit in the shadows of the unfinished works of the great farthing men...he should blossom and create/finish the work that he obviously knows about, and understands so well!

    I'll bet it's a home-made coin weight? That would be plausible if it's made of lead? Does it weigh perhaps a Sov or Half Sov in weight?

    I think it's a homemade casting, looking at the ER? Someone has created a mold, forgetting to mirror the letters, I reckon? Is it an ingot perhaps? Is it heavy? What's it made of?

    It's made of copper and brass, so has done well for a soil find! I guess the soil in a wood could be a little more peat-like?

    Couldn't agree more, regardless of denomination or year ... But it's what they go for! Is it any different to a two-pronged trident?I do confess it's not for me, unless I was close to gathering the whole series of something, and a particular coin got added into an addenda or revised edition of a book, or similar, as a definite type? But this wouldn't happen to me, as I have an interest in too many areas...fortunately!

    I haven't seen a confirmed fake Anne, either! Though we did have a long discussion on here a while ago about an Anne Crown (I think) - hair detail was the discussion point! can't remember who posted the coin?

    We use olive oil...sunflower is perfectly good! No point in giving yourself a coronary for the sake of a humble spud? Save a goose, why not?

    Presumably Santa has difficulty getting down the chimney on a barge? And certainly struggled to find a place to hide things.We have TWO chimneys, but I'll grant you they're a bit of a squeeze for the big fella!

    Ah, the only privilege I have from being brassic is that my eBay searches only cover E1 (general) & J1/C1 farthings! Takes about two minutes!

    Brilliant! Just said to my wife 'remind me to read you something lovely about the trenches,' as she was watching a film with the lad! Amazing thing is, she knew exactly what I meant when I said 'trenches'! Not a place where builders repair roads, not a ditch at the side of a road...amazing that after more than a 100 years the term still means the same to everyone!Lovely story, thank-you! Books are great, don't get me wrong, but the dynamic kind of learning you get from sticking a number of heads together is totally awesome! Merry, Smerry, as my son is presently fond of saying! :)
